Right, from what I gathered at Kanzentai's guide on the Dragon Boxes, this is the main missing footage:

- Preview for Dragon Ball Z Episode 001
(Can't find a video for this)

- Preview for "Defiance in Face of Despair!!"

There was a giant Credit list of everyone that work on the Dragon Ball Series as the final montage played in the final episode of DBGT. It was missing in the Dragon Box for some reason, its on my Chinese VCDs, lol!

The credits themselves aren't really missing footage in and of themselves and could/potentially should have been added to the already existing footage, but I think the best way to handle it would have been to include footage of the ending montage w/ credits either as an alternate angle or as another bonus feature.

Well, if you consider stuff like the Cell Saga Overview and the karaoke Cha-La Head-Cha-La missing footage, than there is a lot more, since there is a ton of stuff that fits into the same category as those two videos... but I really don't consider wrongfully missing footage.

The Cell Saga Overview is simply a little Fuji TV creation, of which there have been several for all three series. Yes, they would make great additions to the Dragon Boxes, and there are no reasons that I know of for them not being there, but hey, it would be like a bonus bonus feature. The karaoke Cha-La Head-Cha-La was a bonus feature limited to one other release, and it really makes that one other release kind of special which is cool.

Here's the only other stuff I can think of:

Creditless version of the second opening animation for Dragonball
Creditless versions of the other three ending animations for Dragonball
Creditless versions of the first two opening animations for Dragonball Z (Cha-La Head-Cha-La)
The sponsor promos for each episode of DBGT are left out
Creditless version of the second opening animation for Dragonball GT
Creditless version of the other three ending animations for Dragonball GT
Creditless versions of the openings for movies 1-5, 8, 11-17
Creditless versions of the endings for movies 1-5, 8, 11-17
Theatrical Previews for movies 1, 8, 13-14 (I assume these exist)
News Flashes for movies 2-7, 9-12, 15, 17 (I assume these exist)
Digests for movies 5-6, 8-11 (I assume these exist)

That's all I can think of now, maybe I'll come up with some more later.

The preview for DragonBall Z Episode 001 is indeed missing, probably forever. I've looked for it for a long time and I've never been able to find it. I'm sure it exists somewhere, like in Toei's vaults or on someone's old fansub tape.

You're assuming most of those even exist, and the sponsor promos are kinda useless in my eyes... It's sponsor stuff, it would be kinda like that thingy with Goku commenting on that "great japan awards" cartoon.

We've been trying to figure that out for awhile now, but there's still no real answer. I know kei17 e-mailed Toei and asked, but as far as I know he never got a apply, or at least one with a solid answer.

Well, I'm 99% sure it all does exist (and has been released/used before). And well, the sponsor stuff is footage, soooooooo ya. And the Nihon Ijin Taisho that Goku commentated is quite a bit higher on the totem pole than the GT sponsor spots (and it aired quite a bit after the Dragon Boxes were released).

And I thought of some other things that could be argued as "missing footage", though it is more in the video game category, which is so large it would warrant its own Dragon Box:

DragonBall Z 3 Storefront Promotional Video

I'm not sure if there were any storefront videos for any other games, but I'd assume there were at least some for the Sparking! games.

The credits were added with a video-editing program of those days so the footage was edited in 29.97fps and interlased so it's impossible to add it as an alternate angle. They could include it on the DVD as a bonus feature, though.

Some of them could be lost. Toei sometimes treat the masters carelessly. They lose the stuff.
For example, they lost the master film of the showdown scene in the old movie of Hokuto no Ken. As a result, on the HD-remasterd DVD recently released, the footage suddenly gets worse just after Kenshiro's final blow. In addition, the creditless OP & ED of DBZ movie 4 were not remastered and obviously taken from the old tape they used on VHS/LD release. They could be lost.

Yeah, that's what it is. I guess the only place we could get it is from a very old fan-sub or original broadcast recording...

Thanks for telling. They aired that only on the original air, I guess. Maybe my cousin has it. He had many taped off VHS's when I was little. I hope he still keeps them.

@kei17: Hey, are you guys still working on that unreleased movie BGM project? I've had a couple of people ask me about it recently, and one of them said something about one of you three needing help with the movie 4, 7 and 8 BGM; something about rips from the FUNi double features, which I can get for you.

I will restart the sound editing after the exams end tomorrow. There is a music that ends in the middle of it in the movie 4 so I need some ac3 rips from Season Sets.

Not always. For example, DBZ Movie 3 had a much different opening that outlined Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan's search for the Dragonballs to restore the forest that burnt down just before the opening credits.

A la the full-length promo videos for DBZ1 on the Dragon Box and DBZ3 on the JP DBZ3 PS2 disc... was there one for DBZ2? I seem to think there was.

I'm pretty sure I have one for Sparking! NEO, as well.

Well, there's technically no opening. The credits are shown as Goku fishes with tail through him getting hit by Bulma's car. It's actually part of the feature and not a seperate opening animation. The same thing was done for DBZ Movie 13.

Well, the JSAT special has been released and we did get a non-credit version of "Orange Hero". Unfortunately we didn't get a non-credit version of "CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA".

I'm not really sure why you're listing these, because we're getting releases for them and there's a reason why these would be left off the Dragon Boxes. Anyway, we know we're getting the TV series on DVD and Blu-ray. I'd be surprised if we didn't get the next episode previews, but I doubt we'll get the sponsor promos, which I stand by my statesments of... "we don't need these". We also know that we'll be getting non-credit versions of both the opening and ending animations. As far as the promo videos, we might get those... but I doubt we will. Aren't they on the internet anyway?

I was using your guide for the openings and endings over at kanzentais, but it's not complete yet, so I my list is missing some things.

And about the opening, you could say the same was done for dbz movie 3, and yet it got a creditless version...
