DB in Xi You Ji setting

My Dragon Ball comic had to be put in hiatus and my main series is now one chapter every two weeks thanks to college...

So, for the small free time I have for now, I thought of doing something based of an art submitted by Big Momma

And I decided to do Dragon Ball characters in the setting of Xi You Ji A.K.A. Journey to the West A.K.A. Monkey A.K.A. Saiyuki

For now, it'll be black & white. But I'll color them when I'm free.

And here are the starters:

Son Goku as Sun Wukong the Novice.

Son Goku as Sun Wukong the Great Sage Equal of Heaven

Kuririn as Xuanzang

I'll start with the characters only, and after that I'll draw scenes from the tale.

Shouldn't Bulma be Xuanzang, though, being the Dragonball character actually based off him? It seems a bit jarring to have three of the four characters match up, but seemingly by random, not the last one.

I thought of making Bulma as Xuanzang as a nod to the old Japanese drama series ((Known as "Monkey" or incorrectly "Monkey Magic")), but I thought Kuririn is a better choice since he looks like a Buddhist monk than her.

Plus, I'm giving her a much better role than the monk.
