Episode #0202! VegettoEX and Meri bring on Julian and Hujio for a run-through of different reviews for all of November 2009's new CD releases - the "Progression" CD single, Kai Song Collection, and Kai OST Volume 2. Will any of them stick around as prime examples of DB music greatness, or should they be shelved for good? No news, but some releases and e-mail goodness rounds out the full episode. Hey Mike, the image song is on episode 37, not 36.

On the written Attack of the Saiyans review:
Keeping your "Ninja Sandals" on to lower the chance of random enemy encounters may be your primary goal, but keeping the (item name?) inserted into a reserve slot means you will still take 50% poison damage meandering across the contaminated walkways.
I'm gussing that's a place holder. I think the item in question was a Gas Mask.
and you will be able to track down the Dragon Balls to make a wish (yes, despite the wish just being made to bring Goku back to life; you will have to suspend your knowledge of the plot device rules).
The game explains that the dragonballs you collect over and over again for money and experience and whatnot are actually knock-offs of the real dragonballs created by Mister Popo, so that's why they're still around. And they're supposed to only be able to grant a limited number of wishes, so that's why you can't use those to bring anyone back to life. Well, it's a pretty lame excuse really, but at least they attempt to address those inconsistencies.

I'm interested in listening to the second Kai soundtrack, surprisingly. I'm shocked there's even enough new tracks for one, since I keep hearing the same four tunes over and over again. Maybe I just want to get that triumphant piece that was used when Goku left Kaio's planetoid.
No offense to the guy with the audio mail, but when you like everything, it's the same as liking nothing at all.

He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

I know I've said this before, but it's pretty amazing how something like that will slip through so many proof-readings and readers. Fixed. Thanks

Track five, the 'festive' (as Meri called it) track, was first used with Gokû's landing at Capsule Corp...which is oddly a really good mix, if one were to ask this one.
There's some very quirky stuff on this collection...

Chocobo music!
Hah! I knew "Kinto'un---!" reminded me of something!

I believe you mean track 10, "An Elegant Noontime." Track 5 is "The War Breaks Out!," the short bridge used in the first episode when Goku senses Raditz's approach.
And track 10 was actually first used when Bulma and Oolong hear Kame Sennin talking in the bathroom..... oh somebody just shut me up, I'm such a nitpicker.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Oh dear me, my bad.
My thoughts on the Kai BGM is basically: it's pretty good music, but with the visuals pretty much the exact same as Dragon Ball Z, it's hard to accept.

Don't know if I should start another topic for it or post in the AotS thread in Video Games, but:
AotS Review wrote:With my original DS' screens beat up from too much loving and a DSi not yet in the cards, the game was played it its entirety on the currently-standard DS Lite.
Should be "in its entirety."
EDIT: And Sabat's company is Ok
raTron 5000. Not Orka.
EDIT DOS: I hate myself.

Mistaken correction, sorry!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
He was right about the "in", but not using it's with the apostrophe. I corrected him on the wrong thing. Edited out my false correction.

Aa~aand finally caught up on the podcast. Can't wait for Kenisu and Kunzait to come on! I should go back and listen to your last New Year's predictions podcast; it'll probably be amusing to see how far off you all were.
With that one guy's e-mail, he said he thought that the dub/sub issue was a false distinction, but his only arguement for this seemed to be that he personally liked them both. But being able to like two things doesn't mean any distinction between them is false. I mean, I like both ice cream and calamari, but that doesn't mean the two aren't different, or that someone else wouldn't be perfectly justified in liking ice cream but not calamari, or calamari but not ice cream.

In your written review of Attack of the Saiyans, you keep calling Revenge of King Piccolo "new for the series"
But... Wasn't that game almost exactly the same as Advanced Adventure, only with 3D graphics? If not, at least they were similar. Right down to the simplistic "VS" mode.

I think the Wii game is different enough from
Advance Adventure, but ignoring that, the point was more in that it was a new DB/Z experience for the consoles, just as the new DS game is new experience for the handhelds.
Though I do believe both are new enough even ignoring the types of platforms they appear on.
