Confused About Weekly vs Monthly Airings

Unlike other shows such as Naruto: Shippuden, which airs every week in Japan, it seems like Kai airs once every month. Why?

It airs every week. What gave you the impression it aired monthly? It hasn't been airing even a year yet, so if it aired monthly there'd be less than 12 episodes, but there are almost 40.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure where this idea came from. Is there some place that's reporting it airs monthly? Anyway, you can check out all the episode details here. You'll note that an episode airs each Sunday at 9:00AM on Fuji TV.

Are the fansubs not coming out very fast? That's the only plausible reason I can think of for thinking it aired monthly.

Yeah, I think you're getting the availability of fansubs confused with the airdates. There's not that many English fan groups working on the series.
