Kai Movies, Kai New Stories, and Kai's popularity
Just a couple of things I've been wondering that I thought would be better to combine to 1 topic, rather than making 4 seperate topics about each. First, do you think Dragon Ball Kai will have some of the movies, like Broly or Cooler? Second, do youn think that once they are done with their 99 episodes, Akira might make new stories? Third, what is Kai's popularity? Is it popular, unpopular, are they getting a lot viewers, are they getting good ratings? Is the show aimed for younger children due to the cencorship and is the Blue-Ray/DVD version more uncensored? Thx

Re: Kai Movies, Kai New Stories, and Kai's popularity
1) I would love it if Toei were to use the Kai branding to give them an excuse to make a new movie. However the fact that Kai itself is being made on the cheap instead of from scratch leads me to believe either:
a) The hard work wouldn't match the profit if Kai was done from scratch. In other words, being cheap saves them money.
b) They physically couldn't afford to do Kai from scratch.
c) They're saving any bigger budget stuff for a Kai branded movie they are planning. (I'm hoping for this one, but I'm kind of doubting it.)
2) Nope. Aside from DBO involvement, Mr. Toriyama's finished with DB. I wouldn't mind more Jump Tour specials from Toei if they keep the writing similar to the 2008 special.
3) Kai hasn't dropped out of the top 10 highest on-TV anime ratings since it began airing. It's popular.
4) My guess is Japan's become more strict on violence than they used to be.

Thanks. Just one more question. Is the DVD/Blue-Ray Disc Dragon Ball Kai episodes more uncensored? Do they show scenes that were cut, such was scenes with erased blood, swearing, and adult nature?

The home release of Kai is exactly the same as the broadcast.Ultimate DBZ wrote:Thanks. Just one more question. Is the DVD/Blue-Ray Disc Dragon Ball Kai episodes more uncensored? Do they show scenes that were cut, such was scenes with erased blood, swearing, and adult nature?

According to the ratings, it's pretty popular in Japan. Kai is usually somewhere in the middle of the top 10 anime. You can view all the ratings so far in this thread.Ultimate DBZ wrote:Third, what is Kai's popularity? Is it popular, unpopular, are they getting a lot viewers, are they getting good ratings?
