King Piccolo Demon Status

King Piccolo and Kami are the result of the nameless namek splitting himself into two being so he could become guardian of the earth. As he was not aware he was a namek, neither were King Piccolo or Kami. So my question is why do some fans refer to King Piccolo as a demon since he's just a Namek? Clarification on this subject would be wonderul.

Essentially it's because he's called a demon in no uncertain terms, and there's nothing to suggest that in DB terms one couldn't be both a demon and a Namekian at the same time, just as the God of Earth was both a Namekian and a god. It has nothing to do with anyone mistakenly thinking Piccolo was a demon just because he was green or whatnot. God had all those same weird characteristics after all, be he never considered himself a demon, and there's no indication that anyone else did. God thought he was just an Earthling (albeit a weird-looking one), but was equally sure Piccolo was a demon. Why? Well, first there's the fact that Piccolo was born from the evil in his heart. Then there's how all those killed by Piccolo or his spawn were unable to pass over to the afterlife. Both of these things are unusual and not true of God himself, and it seems that they largely define what a demon is in DB terms. When Ma Junior stopped being quite so evil as the original Piccolo, we see that people he kills are able to pass over to the afterlife, and God says Piccolo isn't a demon anymore.

So basically, the situation isn't that Piccolo assumed he was a demon but turned out to be a Namekian. Instead, it's that he assumed he was a (formal) demon born from the evil in an Earthling's heart, but turned out instead to be a (formal) demon born from the evil in a Namekian's heart.

He's not "just a Namekian". It would be more appropriate to call him a Namekian Demon. The Son of Katatz didn't just do some natural Namekian split-into-two ability; he trained and meditated until he was able to expel the evil from his soul, and this evil later lived and took on the form of Piccolo Daimao.

Daimao is what those in the Dragon Ball World call a Mazoku, which translates to something like "Demon Clansman". The special trait of a Mazoku is that those killed by them can't pass to the afterlife and instead suffer as Earthbound spirits. This is what happens to the characters killed by Daimao and is why it was such a big deal to resurrect Shenlong to wish them back to life.

Because he is a demon. It's stated a couple of times in the comic that the souls of people killed by Piccolo's demon clan can't go on to the afterlife. It's not really clear exactly it is that makes a character a demon (aside from being pure evil, I guess) but we do know that Piccolo was no longer one when he killed Raditz - God comments to Popo on the significance of the fact that Raditz was able to go to Enma for judgement.
