A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
Up to what series does it go? I hear it only goes to the episode of the Namek saga where Goku goes SSJ, Episode 100. Which sucks.
If so, is this because that is the only era that needs retouching? The Cell arc was drawn well, though I would have liked to see a HD ssj2 or 3.
Does anybody know if it will air anywhere in the united kingdom? It's been on Nicktoons USA, but I am in Wales and haven't even been able to watch the previews on the US site.
Will they be airing all the other normal sagas as well? It would make no sense if they didn't even if it's not Kai. It needs a proper ending.

It's very likely going to the end of the Boo arc. It's already at the beginning of the Android arc.

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
I got in touch with Nickelodeon UK and they told me this:
We wont be getting it from Nickelodeon.Nickelodeon UK wrote:Unfortunately we won't be showing Dragonball Kai on Nick here in the UK. While the programme is being shown on NickToons in America, the series was only bought for Nick in the USA and not for the channels outside America.
Don't worry, though - even though we're not showing it, you might see the series on a different kids channel, like Cartoon Network or somewhere else. We don't have any know where the series will be broadcast in this country, but we think there's a good chance you'll get to see it somewhere before too long!

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
The Cell arc is currently airing, they plan on about 150 episodes, and they haven't even reached episode 100.
As for Kai airing in the UK, I don't see it happening, it's nothing like Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon, Bakugan or Beyblade which is the ideal anime for children here, UK kid's networks aim at a younger audience than America, which is why we've only had [adult swim] on Bravo and FX (though CNX showed some AS shows). I remember ITV were going to air Yu Yu Hakusho on a new teen channel but that never happened.
The only channels who are in the right age range are either music channels like VIVA or MTV, or things like SumoTV, other than those I wouldn't know who could air it.

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.

If it's showing in the USA, it could show in the UK on the same type of channels. It showed on CN ten years ago. It could show again.
i really hope I get to see it.

I don't think it will come to the UK. If you really want to watch it though, you could always get the DVDs/Blu-Rays.Goten Forever wrote:

Read my post again, different age groups, and that was 10 years ago, but it moved to CNX after a while too anyway.Goten Forever wrote:

Jetix would have probably been ideal since it showed CN edited Naruto, only edited more, but that's Disney XD now and only shows Disney, Marvel and Pokémon now.
It's no big deal though, just get the DVDs, they're uncut, bilingual and have great translations for the subs.
Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
If you get VLC player I'm pretty sure you can stream it like people are doing with the Japanese version, but the blu rays are the way foward.Goten Forever wrote:Up to what series does it go? I hear it only goes to the episode of the Namek saga where Goku goes SSJ, Episode 100. Which sucks.

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
I know other people have already answered your questions, but I'm going to add some extra commentary. You also might want to give this a view.
Anyway, Goku went Super Saiyan in episode 47, and we're now up to episode 63. It was recently announced that the Artificial Humans and Cell arcs will run through episode 98. So it's safe to assume that the Majin Buu arc will run at least up through episode 140-150. So it will definitely be shooting past episode 100, and has far surpassed the Namek arc.
Well, it only covers one series, DragonBall Z. No plans for a refreshing of either DragonBall or DragonBall GT have been announced, but I really don't think we'll be seeing those happen.Goten Forever wrote:Up to what series does it go?
Well then, you definitely heard wrong. I'm surprised that this rumor is still going around, but them again, I guess I shouldn't be. I think the question I have is, is it that hard to look up some general info about the series? Wouldn't that answer these questions? I mean, you don't necessarily have to go to a site like Kanzentai to find this information, since something as simple as Wikipedia would suffice. It just bothers me these days that no one will take the time, all 15 seconds, to just look something up. Oh well, let the rumor continue!Goten Forever wrote:I hear it only goes to the episode of the Namek saga where Goku goes SSJ, Episode 100. Which sucks.

[adult swim] on FX has just started and Robot Chicken/Titan Maximum/Venture Bros. being aired between Family Guy reruns could start something, though...

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
Dragon Ball Kai will have to go past 100 episodes up to 150 episodes. The Majin Buu saga is a pretty long saga and they are already at episode 67 (I think) in Japan.
As for Dragon Ball Kai airing in the UK it might but if it were to, it would probably be dubbed by Ocean Group. In Canada we don't have Dragon Ball Kai airing on TV either since YTV hates anime. We never even got Naruto Shippuden here as well. If it were to come here though (including the UK) I read a rumor that Ocean Group would change the music and do the dub just like it was with DBZ.

Never seen an Ocean Group dub in my life. How bad are the voices?PuppetDoctor wrote:

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
They're as bad as the Funimation voices, but even during the Cell arc the Funi actors could actually act, Ocean were rushed. The first Ocean dub for DBZ is a better example, most of the voices suit the characters and they got to have more takes by the sound of it.
Didn't you ever watch it on TV?

Re: A few questions about Dragonball Kai.
To put it simply I hated it with a passion! The Ocean dub that Canada got (and I believe the UK) began during the middle of the Cell Games. The music was changed and apparently it was recycled music from shows such as Monster Rancher etc. Cell sounded stupid and Gohan made my ears grate. The Funimation dub sounded like music to my ears compared to that terrible Ocean Dub we got in Canada. Just imagine one day you watch the Cell Games with the Funimation dub and the next day you hear a complete voice change to terrible voice actors.Goten Forever wrote:Never seen an Ocean Group dub in my life. I still actually have certain sagas recorded on VHS when I wanted to have all the DBZ episodes. Now a good dub that I loved was the Blue Water dub.
Well to be fair the only way to see the Ocean Dub for later episodes was to live in the UK or Canada. The earlier Ocean Dub in my opinion was good minus Piccolo's voice. The Time Traveller wrote:They're as bad as the Funimation voices, but even during the Cell arc the Funi actors could actually act, Ocean were rushed. This is a good example if you wanna know what Ocean dub sounds like because there's a lot of talking in here.Goten Forever wrote:Never seen an Ocean Group dub in my life. How bad are the voices?

Episode 67 won't even air until 8 August 2010. Again, why just guess and not just look it up? It's really easy.Hujio wrote:...we're now up to episode 63. Here's the schedule:
June 27, 2010 - Episode 063
July 4, 2010 - No Episode Aired (World Cup Highlights)
July 11, 2010 - Episode 064
July 18, 2010 - Episode 065
July 25, 2010 - No Episode Aired (FNS Day 2010)
August 1, 2010 - Episode 066
August 8, 2010 - Episode 067

Listen, I haven't seen an ocean dub at least since I was 6 on CNX. Back then as far a I know it sounded exactly thesame as the FUNi dub because I payed little attention to what was said.
And I HAVE researched db kai on Wiki AND here. Both said there would be 100 episodes.
