Why doesn't Cell arc Gohan's Super Saiyan hair stand on end?

Why doesn't Cell arc Gohan's Super Saiyan hair stand on end?

Post by DBZGokuSaiyan » Tue Aug 24, 2010 5:55 pm

I realize that I might just be looking for an explanation where there really is none, but this is something I'm just curious about...

Out of all the Saiyans that can transform into Super Saiyans, why does Gohan's hair remain the same as his normal state's?

I mean, he already "trained" his Super Saiyan form before the Cell Games. Is it because his full hidden power isn't tapped until he achieves Super Saiyan 2?

Yes, I know that Vegeta's remains the same for his Super Saiyan state, as well... but his hair is already standing up, anyway. (I don't know.)

I always assumed it was a way of making his transformation from SSj to SSj2 as stark as possible. Don't know about any "in-universe" explanation.

It's just the way his hair is cut. We was Super Saiyan 'something' in the Hyperbolic time chamber with really long hair and Goku decided to cut it.

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks, Herms!

True... but take Future/Mirai Gohan, for example: his hair was almost as short as Cell arc Gohan's, but it noticeably stood up in his Super Saiyan form.

Then again, I guess Future Gohan's "major trigger" was Goku dying; Cell arc Gohan's trigger didn't come until the battle with Cell.

The length difference might explain it, actually. Future Gohan's hair was a similar shape, but much shorter, thus lighter and easier to stick up. That makes sense when considering Gohan's hair alone, anyway.

I don't think the shape of their SSJ1 hair has anything to do with how much power they're tapping into or what triggered their transformation. Sometimes it gets pushed up more by the wind caused by their ki, but that's about it.

Ah, good call. Gee, I feel pretty stupid right now.

For the same reason it didn't stand on end for future Trunks.

Um, it does stand on end when he first becomes a Super Saiyan. When he is training in the room of Space and Time with Goku it spikes upward. When they exit the room, they have trained to remain calm while in the Super Saiyan state. It isn't until they power up that it starts to stand on end again. Go back and watch the episodes and you'll see what I mean. Watch when Goku and Gohan train together, and haven't mastered the full power form yet. Even Goku's hair, which stands up as a Super Saiyan, does so less as relaxed full power Super Saiyan. Watch when they first come out of the room and when Goku powers up for Korin to show him his power, it stands up way more then than normal.
"Of" =/= "Have"

Contractions:
-Should have = Should've
-Could have = Could've
-Would have = Would've

The heck does "should of" even mean anyway? Think about what those two words mean individually, and then try to read them back to back in a sentence and make sense of it. Are you forming a prepositional phrase, is "should" a part of a larger grouping, or are you just typing random words based on how you think you hear them used verbally? Perhaps take a moment to contemplate this, and see if it becomes as mind jarring for you to look at as it does for me..

Ah. I also forgot to mention that I haven't seen any of those episodes... ever.

Manga should be the first place for you to check.
