I've always been in the mindset that the fused being is a totally new character, a new single entity, who really should have his or her own voice.
I'm aware that both the original and FUNimation voice-overs gave Vegetto the voices of both Vegeta and Gokuu, synced up. While it certainly does sound cool (and pretty intimidating), it does remind me constantly that this is 2 characters fused together, and not the new character Vegetto was built up to be (they really seemed to make a big deal out of the Potara earrings being a faultless fusion; never ending, in which a totally new being is formed).
After recently re-watching the Ocean dub's take of Vegetto, I personally thought they handled the voice of the character better than anyone else. It seems to be Bryan Drummond doing an impression Kirby Morrow, which really is fantastic, as it is a fusion of both of the voices, not just the voices overlaying each other. Not to mention Drummond doing the talking really gives the impression that Vegeta is seemingly the dominant character of the fusion (considering his name takes up most of the character, and a lot of his personality).
I've heard that it was Toriyama's idea to take both the characters voices and overlay them, but I can't help but feel Ocean had a better take on how to handle Vegetto's voice.
What do you guys think? Did the dual-voice thing sit easy with you guys, or would you have rather seen another take on the voice (A high pitched Horikawa would have been such a treat, don't you think?
