For my birthday I treated myself to the Japanese Dragon Ball Dragonbox. Why didn't you guys tell me it was GIGANTIC? Holy crap, it's like 900 pounds of awesome.

The guys over at Kanzentai were nice enough to post this really cool and pretty rare Dragon Ball First Episode Preview some time ago: http://www.kanzentai.com/features.php?id=dbox_perfect ... that happens to be missing from the Dragon Box, and is also unfortunately also in terrible macroblocked VHS quality.
Anyway, I've been working on a project where I've been researching the Dragon Ball film stock, and experimenting with a method to properly color correct the Dragon Box footage. Since I know you guys might be the only people on the internet who might dig this, for an early Thanksgiving present (because everyone gives presents on Thanksgiving, right? Right?), I recut the footage for this trailer using the first episode from the Dragon Box frame by (fracking) frame, removed the color cast, color corrected it using my current findings, remade the unique title cards, did postproduction work, and then timed subtiles for it using Kanzentai's translation.

An interesting thing I found is that in the trailer, though, is it contains two unfinished scenes/alternate takes in it:

First, in the trailer, Bulma's legs are missing. It might not have been finished, or it could be because they edited it to seem like the jump was Goku's reaction to getting shot. In this second shot, they didn't have this cool little star animation that's in the final episode. To remove these, I pulled a 1990's Funimation and paiiiiiinted them a awwwwwaaaay.
Anyway, enjoy!
Also, remember, if SOPA passes, we wouldn't be able to do this cool kind of fair use stuff anymore: http://daizex.fanboyreview.net/viewtopi ... =7&t=18683
Also also... if this ever actually gets put into some kind of official release, please buy it. I doubt it'll ever come to light, but you never know.
