FUNimation tries to make movie 1 fit into the story?
Maybe it's just me but when I was watching the redub I thought maybe FUNimation kinda tried to make this movie fit into the series timeline because where Gohan gets mad, instead of Goku being all shocked and saying stuff like Gohan? or whats going on? he says stuff like do it Gohan! and get him! Like he knew about Gohans power... maybe its just me...

A valid point.tarsonis wrote:Even if funimation was trying to tie movie 1 into the main storyline, that still wouldn't explain Kuririn's reaction to seeing Gohan for the first time in the series.
FUNi should view the DBZ movie the same way fans do - side, possibly What If stories that don't really tie in with the canon plot (except maybe 9 and 13).

I dunno . . .
Movie 9 really is the only movie that has zero continuity problems, like VegettoEX once said. It's tempting to say the same of Movie 13, but that's tricky business with Future Trunks' sword being handed down to Chibi Trunks . . . well, VegettoEX goes over all of that too, so why am I repeating it?FUNi should view the DBZ movie the same way fans do - side, possibly What If stories that don't really tie in with the canon plot (except maybe 9 and 13).
The way I see it, a DBZ movie you like is sorta like the beautiful girfriend your parents don't approve of. She's cool and you really like her, but your parents say you shouldn't because . . . well, she's just a little too different for it to really work out. (Or so they say.) Then again, maybe that doesn't make too much sense . . .
In regards to Movie 1, well . . . who knows? There could be some credit to Tanooki's theory. I can definitely imagine FUNimation taking a successful property like DBZ and trying to fill in the little plot holes to tie it all together and make it just a little more perfect, however fruitless that may be. It could be hard to resist.

Unfortunately many fans aren't as informed as most of us in the DaizEX Forums and don't realize the movies don't count. FUNi loves to take advantage of this, and if I were them I'd do it too!Caracal wrote:FUNi should view the DBZ movie the same way fans do - side, possibly What If stories that don't really tie in with the canon plot (except maybe 9 and 13).

It would, as it sounds like FUNi's trying to put the 1st movie AFTER Raditz (which makes even more problems, heh). (Unless Tanooki meant the cheering was in the series and not the movie.)Even if funimation was trying to tie movie 1 into the main storyline, that still wouldn't explain Kuririn's reaction to seeing Gohan for the first time in the series.
Nope. That still fits. As far as I can remembmer, that movie being an explanation for how Future Trunks got his sword is a fan idea. The Movie actually shows how GT Trunks got his sword (which makes it the first couple EPs of GT in a way). Therefore, it works. ^^Movie 9 really is the only movie that has zero continuity problems, like VegettoEX once said. It's tempting to say the same of Movie 13, but that's tricky business with Future Trunks' sword being handed down to Chibi Trunks...

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Ah. Haven't seen it yet so... Hmm. Well, that's still just the credits. Just because it shows it it doesn't mean anything. After all, the DB/Z closings showed plenty of things that didn't happen. They just got lazy and used clips. *shrug*

I always assumed it was the same sword (it looks the same), but the thing nobody thinks of is, Mirai Trunks COULD have gotten the same sword. Son Gokuu and everyone else dying could have disrupted the way things worked in the time, and Tapion could have been released without Hildegarne being revived.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Do we really want it in the anime timeline? I know I could live without Tapion aka "Link", but Minosha is just so darn cute. I love the movies and all but they're not supposed to fit in all the time or more closely any of the time. Movies just generate money, that's all they really are (sounds like GT huh?). All in all, I think if FUNi wants to try and incorporate the movies into the timeline, then so be it, because frankly the average "dubbie" isn't going to notice it doesn't fit (unless they visit the DaizEX Forums). And for us, well we have the subbed version on the DVD, so it's all good.B-kun wrote:Why're y'all treating it like it's an impossible fix? All you have to do is ignore 15 seconds of credit footage and it fits right into the anime timeline.

Uhm... How doesn't movie 13 fit into the ANIME timeline? It gives the origin to Trunks's GT sword and it fits in perfectly in the 10 year time gap.Hujio wrote:Do we really want it in the anime timeline?
