Missed Opportunites for Insert Songs?

In the first series, we had a pretty good chunk of insert songs, only to see that number cut down drastically when we hit the Z portion of the series. I for one think this was a bit of a pity, as some of the best songs in the series came from those moments. So it got me to thinking, where do you guys wish they'd done insert songs that they didn't?

The first idea that comes to me is actually the re-usage of an existing character song - I wanted to hear Mezase Tenkaichi at some point in DBZ. Perhaps during Roshi's explanation of the past tournaments as the Cell Games are starting up, or more fittingly, at some point as we first get to the Budokai again in the Boo arc.

Goku`s first super saiyan Transformation (Something like a mix of "Dun Dun Dun" and "Just a Chilling Energy")
Trunks VS Freeza (Battle Point Unlimited with Vocals)
19 and 20 arrive (Something like "Just a Chilling Energy")
Piccolo VS Cell (News of Cell Game)
Trunks VS Cell (The Lone Warrior)
Satan arrives at the Cell Games (Mezase Tenkaichi)
Goku VS Cell (Rock Remix of Cha La Head Cha La)
Gohan Goes Super Saiyan 2 (Different version of the song from when Goku went Super Saiyan for the first time)
Goku VS Paikuhan (Mezase Tenkaichi)
Goku comes back from the dead at the tournament (Cha La Head Cha La)
The Tournament Rounds (Mezase Tenkaichi, suddenly stops when Piccolo goes up to fight Kaioshin)
Goku VS Vegeta (Heavy Metal Version of the one when they first fought)
Goku goes Super Saiyan 3 (Super Dragon Soul)
Gohan VS Super Buu (Same as when Gohan goes Super Saiyan 2)
Goku kills Kid Buu with Genki Dama (We Gotta Power)
Goku VS Uub (Orchestral Version of a mix between Mystical Adventure and Cha La Head Cha La, with Hironubo Kageyama singing the Cha La parts, and Hiroki Takahashi singing the other half)

Honestly, these are the missed opportunities for insert songs (ESPECIALLY IN KAI)

- Krillin Kills the Saibamen: Win Tough Fight!! (It's his freakin theme for crying out loud)
- Freeza's First Debut: Only A Chilling Elegy
- Krillin and Gohan Introduce Themselves to Dende: CURE
- Goku Goes Super Saiyan: Super Dragon Soul
- Trunks vs Frieza or King Cold: The Lone Warrior
- Gohan Goes Super Saiyan: CHASER!! (The lyrics make it seem like it's his theme)
- Cell Annouces the Cell Games: News of the Cell Games (This is pretty self explanatory, MrDBUltimate/UltimateGOKUX did the scene with this song awhile back with the Z version and it was PERFECT, no pun intended)
- Gohan Goes Super Saiyan 2: CHASER!!

Before reading your thread, I thought to myself "the entirety of DBZ." But now that I know what you mean:

When Kami comes back from Other World, I think it would have been cool to see Mr. Popo search for Dragon Balls with DragonBall Legend playing in the background. I mean, putting together a minute or two clip of Mr. Popo easily finding the Dragon Balls with DBL playing in the background would be hilarious to me as it would show just how much the series evolved up until that point. (In DBL, the Dragon Balls are said to be hard to find and mysterious.)

The only other time I can think of is the Freeza arc; specifically when Freeza impales Kuririn with his horns. Something far better than this.

I'm still baffled to this day why Goku's first SSJ Transformation gets no song in either Z or Kai, yet in Kai, we get an insert song when Goku's driving around in a car.

This isn't actually in the show, but I think Super Dragon Soul would go perfectly with Gohan returning to Earth to fight Boo.

But Ultra-Super Dragon Soul plays when he transforms in Kai, albeit very briefly.

I think Kai should have used an insert song when Gohan goes SSJ2, because that scene feels wrong without Spirit VS Spirit.

The original Kai Gohan SSJ2 Theme Song does have vocal voices but I'm not sure if it counts as singing.

No it doesn't. Kai used "A Moment For Shuddering" during Goku's Super Saiyan transformation in the Yamamoto mix (not sure what's used in the Kikuchi mix).

Now, I may be in the minority, but I'm against the idea of an insert song in Goku's first Super Saiyan Transformation, as I feel that it's supposed to be a shocking, tragic, and horrific moment (and one that, if you were seeing it for the first time, you're not supposed to see coming), and not an "OMG HE'S SO BADASS!!! GONNA KICK SOME ASS!!!" moment.

To contribute to the topic, I wonder if the song "Ore-Tachi On Energy" could've worked in the scene where Goku defeats Boo with the Genki-Dama.

Pretty sure it's just "remastered" in "HD".

The guy who tried to "remaster" what wasn't even broken to begin with, and so it looked awfully bad to make things worse.

Yeah that vid is from I first started removing music from Kai, since I got the audio from AniNation, I just took that video off of YouTube and synced it to Super Dragon Soul. I myself didn't add the filters to 'remaster' it.

I agree it would be a mistake to bust out the guitars and the singing, but I feel like an instrumental that was different from the regular background music (as was done with "Solid State Scouter" and "Battle Point Unlimited") might have worked. It'd be better than the generic BGM Z used, at any rate.


Am I the only one who thinks it'd be hilarious if there was an insert song by Majin Buu and Mr. Satan while they're chilling at his house? They could even have the dog supply backing vocals. Arf arf arf!

For the original Dragon Ball Kai broadcast they could've used the classic Battle Power Unlimited instead of the new track composed for that scene.

Didn't feel like the insert song used in Kai for Trunks x Mecha Freeza worked well at all, more like a misplacement once again, with BPU things would've been different.

They could have used Saiyan Blood a lot more Kai. Also I would have loved to have seen them stick Aitsu wa Son Goku somewhere in Z.
