What's wrong with Bandai?
I simply don't understand the logic of Bandai. With their recent work with Dragon Ball over the last couple of years, it's like they're intentionally trying to squeeze the franchise dry of any credibility in the gaming medium.
They had worked to establish a real following in the Budokai and the Budokai Tenkaichi series' of games. Yet they've continued to ostracize the fans that fell in love with these games by diverting further each year from the concepts that made them popular.
Then there's Attack of the Saiyans, a great little RPG on the DS that attracted quite a following itself. Yet once again, a sequel for a quality game is ignored in favor of fumbling attempts at new series' that end up being critical and commercial failures.
This Dragon Ball Kinect sounds like just another Bandai annual cash farming expedition.
I guess what I'm asking is: Why does Bandai neglect the titles that granted them overwhelming fan response and moderate critical success, to spew out these newer garbage games that are slandered by both fan and critic alike?

It just seems stupid to me. Continuing and polishing a successful formula = Money
It's like they're allergic to cash.

Re: What's wrong with Bandai?
1. Shuesha requires an annual game or they pull Bandai's license to make them.
It's possible that at this point they just want the annual revenue and honestly can't think of a way to actually change the games- that will eventually render the series unprofitable, but some folks keep buying these games, so...
2. Nintendo is now the super-majority stock holder of Monolith Soft's stock, so am AoTS sequel will never happen unless Bamco either swaps developers or makes a deal with Nintendo, which they will need to wait a couple years to do since Monolith is working on a Wii U game atm, if not a 3DS game simultaneously. That's your reason; ever wonder why Xenoblade was Wii exclusive?

We're about 80% certain that Project Cross Zone for 3DS is made by Monolith. Guess who's publishing that? Bandai, through the Banpresto label.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:2. It would explain that 3DS game; perhaps Nintendo lets them go about their business that way so long as the games are on their platforms. I'd be happy to be proven wrong there.Super Saiyan Prime wrote:We're about 80% certain that Project Cross Zone for 3DS is made by Monolith. Guess who's publishing that? Re: What's wrong with Bandai?
I actually agreed with your theory that the only reason we haven't seen a sequel to AoTS is the buyout of Monolith, but if that 3DS game is made by them than that certainly throws a wrench into things. AoTS sold well in Japan, much more so than any of Spike's games. In fact, AoTS total is greater than if you add up a couple of Spike's games together.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:It would explain that 3DS game; perhaps Nintendo lets them go about their business that way so long as the games are on their platforms. I've love to see a follow-up to Attack Of The Saiyans, I really liked the art in that game, and the battle system was pretty awesome.
