Favourite Kaiouken scene?
What's your favourite Kaiouken scene? Mine is Gokuu's Kaiouken x3 against Vegeta, followed by his Kaiouken x20 against Freeza. Both scenes have such great build-up, tension and satisfying climaxes.

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Gotta be x20 against Freeza, and when he showed Ginyu his 180,000 power level is right up there too.

Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
Pretty much every Kaiou Ken in DBZ Movie 2 ties as my favorite ever. In the series, though, it's the 20x Kaiou Ken against Freeza.
Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
The Kaioken struggle against Vegeta. That was awesome, and certainly a highlight in that fight. Watching Goku continually pushing himself to beat the toughest villain yet, and by a wide margin. Vegeta obviously had way more life in him that allowed him to tank the hell out of that battle. Nonetheless, seeing Goku use this risky technique for the first time in battle was a treat. Kaioken / x2 (same thing) was not enough, and then he goes three and mauls Vegeta. Then what? A beam struggle that I remember vividly as a kid watching in front of the TV. It was massive, and then... he can't make it... no, they're dead even... that's it... fuck it... TIMES FOUR!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOM send Vegeta's ass into sky.
Exhilarating. I went back to watch the original dub scene and it was cut too much with character reaction scenes and bad acting. Better in Japanese, but still plagued by padded scenes. Didn't need most of that, so I'm glad they kept it strictly about the fight in Kai. The struggle could have been a tad bit longer, though, if only for the tension.

Kaio-ken x20 Kamehameha on Freeza, in Kai with Yamamoto music. One of my favorite scenes on the whole franchise.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
The one scene that really sticks out in my mind is the original Kaio-Ken scene, when Nappa is flying towards Gohan and Kurilin, and Goku has to use it really fast to get to him in time.

Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
Kaio-Ken vs. Vegeta, definitely.
Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
Every moment Kaio-ken was used in movie 2. The Kaio-ken technique really shined in that movie. I wish it was used more, but no the super saiyan transformation was introduced then Kaio-ken was a move everyone forgot about.
Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
^ Would have been nice if Kaioken was added to the non-Saiyan characters' arsenal.
My favourites are the same as PiccoloDaimao's, for the same reason.

When he used super Kaiouken against Paikuhan

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Damn, you guys who voted for movie 2 are probably right. I can recall Goku using it and it being awesome during that movie.
I need to re-watch that movie asap. Makes me want to not wait for an announcement of a Z movie dragon box and just buy them damn movie boxes right now!
I figure a Dragon Ball Dragon Box release will come out next year, but they are supposed to already have the Z movie masters right?! I must be patient I suppose....

I don't believe I've heard any information from Funimation saying that it would get released next year? or maybe I forgot?

Didn't they already have an original Dragon Ball anime release planed for 2013?samuraix123 wrote:I don't believe I've heard any information from Funimation saying that it would get released next year? or maybe I forgot?
After all the recent news and happenings, I figure there's a good chance that it will be a Dragon Box Dragon Ball release.

I'll try to find the thread where i first heard this. It was recent so I should be able to.
Shame that Kaiouken was just forgotten about, and Goku ended up being the only one to ever use it...

Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
Easily the x20 scene (Anime only), but since that has already been said, I'll say the one in DBZ Movie 5. Even though Goku gets owned, that scene had some awesome animation.
Re: Favourite Kaiouken scene?
The battle against Tullece. The animation done by Nakatsuru is really epic.
In my opinion, that was one of the worst things in Kai. Failing the kamehameha despairingly with peaceful and calm music was terrible to me.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Kaio-ken x20 Kamehameha on Freeza, in Kai with Yamamoto music. One of my favorite scenes on the whole franchise.
