Which character was given the worst dub lines?

I think it's a toss up between Yamcha and Freeza.

Definitely Freeza. Say what you will about Goku's superhero speeches not fitting him, at least they weren't god-awful dialogue in-of-themselves, IMO anyway. "Ride 'em cowboy" and a bunch of the other rather suggestive lines they gave Freeza though? Oh maaaannnn. I could hardly take those lines seriously even when the dub was all I knew. Which is probably why for the longest time, Freeza didn't rank on my favorite villains list.

Kuririn got it pretty bad, too.

Goku's Ally to good, Nightmare to you line to Freeza, enough said.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

Nobody's debating that Goku didn't receive some poor lines, but there are characters who had it worse.

Maybe.

Come to think of it, the narrator got hit pretty hard too didn't he? We all remember the infamous "KRILLIN'S IN DA' HOUSE!" I'm sure, but there were other pretty awful narration lines too weren't there?

I could swear there were but I can't remember anything specific at the moment.

Freeza, because they turned him into the creepiest GINLF (grandma I'd not like fucking) comedian ever.

Background characters. Rewatching the Funimation dub and hearing what the background characters were saying.....and I assumed they were ALL retarded.

Yeah, background characters say some stupid things.

"Dude, if that was not the champ, I will eat the hat I am wearing."

Yes, I agree, it even made me hate Freeza at first (not the 'love to hate' kind which is the norm for villians). He once even said "Fancy that. One shot and he's throwing in the towel. Strike up a derge." WTF?! Freeza would never say shit like that. :x

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

What are you talking about, silly? That's the greatest line in the entire dub! The delivery is nothing short of flawless!

I agree with you, I thought I'd be the ONLY one who hates Chris Sabat's lines in DBZ as Yamcha.
He's good in Dragonball and DB Kai but in DBZ his Yamcha was sometimes turned into a rude tool and other times a loser.

In the dubbed version, FUNimation inserted someone insulting Yamcha, like EG: Inserting a fight between them in the wait for Goku after Trunks defeated Frieza or when their ship crashed, and other times

EG: Chichi telling Yamcha to get his own medicine while in the original and Kai wondering where Gohan was as usual.

But there are some times where his Yamcha lines can be ok.
Wishes she can change her name to YamchaFan (her name everywhere else)

That line is pretty tolerable, actually; it just had piss-poor delivery. Speaking of background characters, though: "Slugs are nasty!"
This will never not be my sig:

That's one thing I noticed as well, the females are really hostile towards Yamcha in the dub.

All the females are extra-hostile/bitchy in the dub. Especially Chi-Chi.

They did crank that up a good deal in the dub, but it's not like it came out of nowhere - it seems like they were just about all pretty hostile/bitchy in the original too, at least to me.

And here's one that's so bad it's good.

No, it didn't come out of nowhere, but that doesn't mean that they had to flanderize them. Blooma became a Valley Girl stereotype and Chi-Chi was full-on PMS 24/7 with no redeeming qualities.

I'm not trying to defend the dub's changes here, just wanted to point out that they were still kind of unlikeable to begin with, that it wasn't an entirely dub convention.

Though, on the Valley Girl thing - and this is a serious question here, not trying to be funny - what exactly IS a 'Valley Girl'? The one time someone's tried to explain it to me, was 'Think the girls off of Clueless', which if that's what it means...I...never really quite got that vibe off of dub Bulma. Or have I just repressed a lot of it?
