GT Episode 64 Ending Montage Scroll Text Translation?

Post by superrayman3 » Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:07 pm

I don't know if this has been brought up before or not so if it has please ignore this thread, as I was watching a Japanese VHS recording of DBGT episode 64 when the montage that chronicles the story of Goku and the adventures he had over the years started I noticed that there was a scroll text that went from right to left throughout the whole montage, and I was wondering what does it say? I'm just going to take a wild guess and assume the scroll text is something along the lines of the whole story of Dragon Ball and Goku from the very beginning of the series to the end of GT, but I'd still like to know exactly what it says.

If anybody could help me out here I'd really appreciate it.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

It's a credits scroll.

It is? huh I thought it'd be something else considering there are credits after the montage.

It's a credit scroll for the "entire" cast from the beginning of DB to the end of DBGT.

You can read through this thread from 2008 for a little more information about the credit scroll, but here's a translation of it for you, if you still want it. I will note that this credit scroll is only available through old recordings of GT (like what you have) and does not appear on the Japanese Dragon Boxes or any of FUNimation's releases. You can read more about its omission from the Dragon Boxes in our "My Dragon Box Isn't Perfect?!" feature on the website (scroll down toward the bottom of the page).

Weird. I wonder why they credited Kishino as Tao Pai Pai and Burta when he only voiced Tao Pai Pai in Dragon Ball Z? Seems like a hick-up.

Well, they also only credited the new Chichi.

Hiro Yuuki voiced "Dende (Youth)"? I thought Tomiko Suzuki voiced Dende from childhood through adulthood.

Yeah, that was an error on my part. Chikao Ōtsuka is actually credited for Tao Pai-pai, which makes much more sense.
linkdude20002001 wrote:Well, they also only credited the new Chichi.
Well it's not too surprising when you realize the credit list isn't based on the characters, but the the actors. There is one credit per actor involved with the series, with their most well known character listed. Actors that voiced multiple characters only have one character listed, that is except for Masako Nozawa.

Tomiko Suzuki voiced Dende throughout the majority of Dragon Ball Z and Hiro Yūki voiced him after the last time skip in Dragon Ball Z, and then the entirety of Dragon Ball GT.

"Youth" is a legitimate translation of seinen (青年), although in terms of nuance, it means something more like "young man".

Ah, OK. I didn't know that.
