Your best or worst Dragon Ball Gifts

Post by Sin » Mon Dec 24, 2012 10:15 pm

So with it being christmas and all it got me thinking about all my favourite presents I've been given throughout the years, a few of which have been DB related, and anyway, I was wondering if anyone here would like to share some of the DB related gifts they have recieved in the past (not just xmas) and if they had a favourite and a worst.

First off I remember receiving Final Bout for my PSX, I had no idea what GT was but I loved the idea of a DBZ game and the characters seemed amazing at the time, either that or one christmas where I got DBZ figures would have to top my favourite DB related gifts.

My worst DB related gift was actually volume 1 of the DBZ manga, crazy I know. Well I was young and wasn't interested in reading, never mind from right to left, on top of this it was black and white and I didn't care much for the Raditz Arc having had it repeated several times on Cartoon Network before.

So, please feel free to share some of your memorable DB gifts! Oh, and merry christmas!

I picked up seasons 8 and 9 today with daddy's cash, completing my orange brick collection, so that's pretty cool for me.

I've never been surprised with a dbz gift unfortunately, I've always had to take the initiative myself to make sure I got what I have. I guess you could say season 1 was a gift to myself though. The first time I bought it I decided to take a chance with Ebay and it came without the episode guide, which I was pretty upset about. I sold it for what I paid and bought it factory sealed from Walmart for 6 bucks more.

Worst, hm... I think it was last year that I bought Raging Blast 2 and at first I was disappointed with the music change, but after playing it I got used to it and loved it (the music, the gameplay's repetitively boring).

This year was definitely worse, I bought Sonic the Hedgehog (aka: Sonic 06) and because the "game" was so horrific I returned it. I don't want to ever own Sonic 06 ever again.

What does Sonic have to do with Dragon Ball?

My best is Budokai 3 and that game rocked.... the Dragon. :D

My worst would have to be that bootleg Piccolo toy with blue clothing.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

It gets fucked up like Dragon Ball games do. Luckily Sonic Team has redeemed themselves with the bless of Sonic Generations.

I think I got a few Bandai GT figures like 10 or 11 years ago. I still want to collect those for the nostalgia. As for worst gift, I got nothing bad DB related. I did get Season 3 of the orange bricks in 2007 which was alright, I guess.

There's never a bad Dragonball gift! Unless it's something bootleg or a double of something you already have. Well, one Christmas, I did ask for a DBZ game for gameboy and instead I got Mega-Man Z. The best Dragonball gift was all 5 Dragonball Blue Bricks last year. My mother paid for them, but I ordered them myself since I couldn't trust my parents to get it right after the whole Mega-Man Z thing. :D

But really, the gifts so far are cool, don't think I'd trust my parents to get me anything DBZ, my dad is real tight with money and would probably get me some bootleg DVDs or something :p

I just received a Banpresto Dragon Ball DX 6 inch soft vinyl set of Goku (Shu Outfit), Oolong (Panties on the head) and Pilaf from my husband for Christmas. That's probably the best DB Gift I've received.

The worst one would be Dragon Ball Evolution that my husband got me for Christmas a few years ago, but it was joke gift because he knew I hated it. :D

This year I picked up the fifth Dragon Box, the Dragon Ball Movie 4-Pack, Kai Season 1 Blu-Ray, and volumes 6 & 7 of the manga.

Feels good, man.

My girlfriends family found a battle damaged Goku figure from the If Labs line, at Goodwill, and I got that today for my birthday. I'd say it's a really good DB gift, esepecialy his condition he is in, it's like new.

I've gotten the first and last Dragon Boxes for Christmas '09 and '11 respectively, those were definitely awesome. And I've gotten various video games over the years (off the top of my head, Budokai 2, Burst Limit, Buu's Fury, Raging Blast 2, Tag VS), also awesome.

... But one year I got these.

Best: A family member bought me a DBZ action figure for Xmas back in 02/03

The bad part was I already owned that specific figure, so we just took it to a store and got it exchanged for another DBZ figure ^_^

Worst? Can't say I've ever had one.

And what's with the hairstyles on that first 'How to draw' book? Haha, it's a very typical 'oooh, that's got those yellow-haired people on that our son likes, lets get him that'.

I got those one year as well, and "meh" is the right word. Not the worst drawing book, but not the best either. I wouldn't consider it my worst Dragon Ball gift though. I don't think I've ever had a bad Dragon Ball gift.

My best gift would probably be Budokai 2 back in 2003, since that's the first Dragon Ball game I ever got and owned.

Gohan's hairstyle is all sorts of wrong. He's got Goku's SSJ hairstyle while Goku has a SSJ2 hairstyle.

My best gift was my brother letting me borrow seasons 1-4 of DBZ back in Christmas 08 since if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't be on this forum right now.

Best: I got Dragon Boxes 6 and 7 last year (2011, to prevent any confusion) for Christmas.

Worst: Nothing that I can think of specifically...I think my brother got that two-in-one orange brick set for seasons one and two a while back.
