Did I miss something?
Did I miss something?
Why did funimation release season sets of KAI? I have Part 1-5 already, why do they always have to mess up releases for fans!

What did they mess up? Also, they aren't forcing you to buy the season sets.IIMaxII wrote:I have Part 1-5 already, why do they always have to mess up releases for fans!

I believe they are discontinuing the parts, I just wish they had consistency...what's the difference between kai seasons and parts?

Mainly because of Kenji Yamamoto's music.

They do have consistency (well, as much as Kai allows them to). They released all (currently) of Kai in parts and season sets. The only difference between the two lies in Seasons 1 and 2 which contains parts 1-4. The difference is the season set versions have the replaced score by Shunsuke Kikuchi.IIMaxII wrote:I just wish they had consistency...what's the difference between kai seasons and parts?

Re: Did I miss something?
After the Yamamoto music scandal, FUNimation released the first "season" of Kai, which at first was accidentally released with the Yamamoto score alongside Yamamoto Kai "Parts" that were supposedly recalled in order to switch the score to Kikuchi. The parts and the seasons were later re-released again, this time containing the right score, and even later the parts were discontinued entirely, in favour of the Season Sets. There is no real difference between the two releases, and parts 6-8 are yet to be discontinued.
So mondo lame.

Re: Did I miss something?
My advice to you then? Get those Parts 6-8 while you can, because they sure as hell won't be in print for much longer (though the Season Sets probably will.)
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
Re: Did I miss something?
Should I just sell my parts 1-5 and buy seasons 1-8? I want to have consistency within my KAI, which means no music changes, or video differences...any ideas? Buy 6-8? or sell my parts 1-5 and buy seasons 1-8?

Re: Did I miss something?
Parts 1-4 contain the exact same episodes as Seasons 1 & 2, the only difference is Seasons 1 & 2 contain the replacement score. Seasons 3 & 4 contain everything from Parts 5-8. Back when Part 5 was released, FUNi already began using the replacement scored episodes. So... I'd keep Parts 1-4 if you care about the original score, the remaining releases have virtually no differences other than packaging & cover art.
This site explains the Kai releases far better than I ever could: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/home-video/na/dbzkai-tv/

Re: Did I miss something?
I was lucky enough to just buy the Season Sets over the Parts Sets since I only got an interest in Z Kai last year. It's all Kikuchi which is fine by me since I'd rather have a full set with the same composer rather than mixed (But don't get me wrong, Yamamoto's score was and is the best).
Re: Did I miss something?
Thought I would organize it like this just so it's really clear for the OP:
Season 1 - contains Part 1 and Part 2
Season 2 - contains Part 3 and Part 4
Season 3 - contains Part 5 and Part 6
Season 4 - contains Part 7 and Part 8
Part 1 and Part 2 have the Yamamoto score. Early versions of Season 1 (which covers Part 1 and Part 2) also have the Yamamoto score, but current versions of Season 1 have the Kikuchi score.
Part 3 and Part 4 have the Yamamoto score. All versions of Season 2 (which covers Part 3 and Part 4) have the Kikuchi score.
Part 5 through Part 8, and Season 3 and Season 4, all have the Kikuchi score.

Completely agree with you, I don't like change, I want consistency.Fennekin wrote:I was lucky enough to just buy the Season Sets over the Parts Sets since I only got an interest in Z Kai last year.
