Broly

Post by crisis » Thu Feb 13, 2014 12:23 am

It's pretty much common knowledge that Broly was pretty much indisputed in terms of power for most of his life. But, when he encountered the Z-Fighters, his power was truly tested for the first time. So, is it reasonable to say that this also marked the first time he achieved the "Legendary Super Saiyan" form?

I have no doubt that he transformed into a Super Saiyan quite early in his life, but to our knowledge there weren't any other opponents that have stood a challenge to him, therefore he wouldn't have had any reason to ascend to the hulking LSSJ form we see. Or am I wrong? Any thoughts?

Apparently he transformed into a Super Saiyan out of sadness rather than anger, according to...some sort of thing. The Dragon Book for Dragon Box: The Movies?

Edit: Yep, apparently that's it.

Paragus seems to know what is happening to his son when the restraining device fails. So, I doubt it's his first time seeing it and thus, not Broli's first time transforming into it.

Slightly off topic

Broly's green hair, What caused it exactly? Is it a side effect of the restraining device? He had normal coloured super Saiyan hair in his second movie so I figure over his several years if sleep the side effects had subsided. But this is just my thought and dunno how accurate it is.

Does it say what he was sad about?

I think he did have LSSJ before Movie 8 because Paragus knew about it which is why he was the restraining device.

I'm guessing it was to help make his LSSJ form stand out more.

I always assumed that, but when his tiara broke he still had weird green hair. I then assumed it was just green because of his name-pun and the fact that he is a mutant.

However when he returned with brown skin and Gold hair, what I'll say is his natural colour I had no clue. I say the side effects must be it.

Though in the games, except for Burst limit, we never get his Legendary Form with gold hair and Brown skin which sucks.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.
