Paikuhan Appreciation

Post by samuraix123 » Fri Feb 20, 2015 6:32 pm

Hello Everyone!
I see people from time to time making appreciation threads for Characters of the show and so I wanted to throw my hat in on the fun! if that's okay? :)
I was wanting to know what everybody's thoughts are on Paikuhan?(You better tread lightly here...lest you make me angry! haha Just kidding)
I don't know what it is about him but he's my favorite character in the Dragonball Universe(That's not saying I hate everyone else and nobody can beat him)

There was a joke I seen that made me laugh ''He defeated Cell by either strength or catching him by surprise, King Cold, Freeza, evenly matched Goku at super saiyan, deflected his Kamehameha with 1 hand. Who killed him to send him to the afterlife?'' haha

Now he isn't as fleshed out as other characters but then again, Does he really need to be? I like him just the way he is and I don't really need to know more about him.
Also I think The Other world tournament is filler right? (Which I love filler) but Paikuhan has appeared in the series twice(OWT & the Boo saga) and 1 movie(Fusion Reborn) and he has even made an appearance in Dragonball heroes! Do you think we'll be seeing more of Paikuhan in future movies? it's doubtful but I hope we do.
So fellow Kanzenshuu members! What's your thoughts on Paikuhan?

He even managed to appear in Dragon Ball Kai. You can't even say that for Lunch.

Did he? I don't keep up much with DB Kai, so I wouldn't know.

He's a cool character, had some pretty cool moments and he has some pretty cool techniques.
All around he's pretty cool , I like him.

That's cuz Paikuhan isn't a one-note joke that only vanilla DB dickriders care about. :P

He did but only briefly.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Pikkon and the Other World Tournament are the greatest things to come out of filler in this series. I think I enjoyed it more than most tournament arcs in DB. Did not like seeing him beat Cell so effortlessly though, but ignoring that scene, I loved everything about him and that mini-arc.

Also, his funimation theme! <33333

He did, via montage at the end of episode 98. The supposed "ending" of the show, but now it's weird to look back on that here in 2015. :P

Easily my favorite filler character. His fight with Goku was fantastic and was a pretty badass character overall.

Always liked him. He's like a cooler, more badass version of Piccolo, if that's even possible.

Movie 12 messed up with his character. I loved him being serious in the anime.

I also love Paikuhan. He's just really cool and strong, and the way he appears, as heaven's greatest dead warrior, is also cool. If I remember correctly, there's a game in which he, Bardock and Trunks defeat Majin Buu in the future. That was really cool. The "Super Paikuhan" transformation in that Heroes trailer? Not so cool.

What are you talking about? There isn't a part with him & Trunks defeating Majin Boo in the future. :P Paikuhan never transforms in Dragonball Heroes either?
He appears in a new costume and kicks SSJ4 Broly's( ) arm away.

Dude, read. I was talking about a game storyline, not a part. It was DBZ Shin Budokai: Another Road, actually.
About Super Paikuhan, all I know is what I read from the Dragon Ball Wiki, and it's classified as a form. I don't follow Dragon Ball Heroes much, or at all.

Apologies about that I was looking at a smaller screen when I read that. haha I don't follow Dragonball Heroes either. I just watch some trailers from time to time. I don't know why they'd classify it as a new form? it's just different clothing? lol

I don't know too, That's why I didn't like it. It's a new form, but it's just him with Kai clothing. Kinda lazy, but then again, the whole DBH concept is lazy IMO.

I was actually hoping he'd appear in Battle of Gods but looking back on it now it wouldn't have made sense for him to be there really. I am hoping we get to see him again in future movies or specials. :)

One of the better filler characters in my opinion. I'm surprise that he had no cameo in GT. Not even in the final episode where everyone was helping Goku out.

I would agree with him being among the better filler characters, his critics will of course say he's a Piccolo clone but I believe he had more in common with Nuova Shenron(another anime only character I liked) personally. Looking back, I'd have liked to have seen him go to Earth with Goku the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament and help the others on Babidi's spaceship. With him being present you would also have someone who presumably would know the fusion dance as well as Goku and would also be another fusion option with say Piccolo, meaning the kids can have a slightly less important role within the arc to please those that hated how strong they started off at.

The Piccolo connection never occurred to me until I read it on here. I always thought he was quite unique as Goku rivals go. Probably my favourite filler character unless I'm forgetting someone which is likely since I haven't watched the anime in forever. Pretty cool character, and I loved how he was used in Movie 12 both comedically and holding off Janemba. The movie in particular made him seem way more three-dimensional than your average filler character to me. Am I right in saying that him, Gregory, the mushroom-head announcer and the other Kaiō are the only filler peeps to appear in a movie?

He's awesome. His appearance, his demeanor... he got style. And Faulconer's badass theme for him.
