Regarding B3,whats the difference between the vanilla and SE
Besides having the Japanese voices, of course.
Yeah, to start, I just (re)brought a PS2 a few days ago at a local store that sells old games and brought the vanilla version of Budokai 3 along with it(also brought Budokai 2, Naruto UN3, Soul Calibur 3, Tony Hawk Underground 2, Bully, Midnight Club 2&3, and GTA: San Andreas). I was bummed that the Special Edition/Greatest Hits version wasn't there for a second, but then I thought that it didn't have that many changes, so can anyone tell me what's the difference between the two? I remember over a freaking decade ago having the special edition, but, I can hardly remember the changes.
Felt so damn good hearing Yammamoto's Budokai soundtrack again too, after 7-8 years, I think.

There are practically no differences between the regular edition of B3 and the "Greatest Hits" edition of the game. The only features that the "Greatest Hits" edition version of the games has over the regular edition is that you can choose Japanese voices, a few more alternate character costumes which were basically Trunks's with long hair and with Bulma's battle armor and his sword, Piccolo's as Demon King Piccolo and Goku's with a Halo above his head. The "Greatest Hits" edition also had "Baba Crystal Ball Movies".

-The animation cut-outs of characters in the menus have moving mouth flaps
-There is an option for Japanese voices
-There are a few extra costumes such as Goku w/ Halo, Armored Future Trunks, and Piccolo Daimao
-There is a full move list in the pause menu that covers all the combos, strings, and attributes
-There are a few visual tidbits and tweaks as such Gotenks puffing out an actual ghost instead of white mist or Broli's Dragon Universe having dark clouds to it
-There are a few gameplay tweaks such as non-working capsules now working, moves are balanced with different priorities, combat is slightly faster, and the occasional glitching in Dragon Rush is gone

The new outfits in the Greatest Hits edition of Budokai 3 are from the Japanese version. Oddly enough Bluma didn't became a outfit for Videl in the Greatest Hits edition though.

Also there were more character dialogue images added to DU Mode so that instead of Goku looking serious all the time he also looked happy sometimes too. And there were more backgrounds added for dialogue parts such as Inside Buu.DBZAOTA482 wrote:-The animation cut-outs of characters in the menus have moving mouth flaps

Dammit! I remember those now. Out of all these features, these two are the only ones that are worthy changes, other than that, meh, I'll be fine with the vanilla version. What could've made the SE perfect were way more costumes, a few more characters(King Piccolo, Pikkon, Tao, Baby Vegeta, Nouva Shenron, and Eis Shenron) and the Dragon Universe mode being available for all of the characters.DBZAOTA482 wrote: -There is a full move list in the pause menu that covers all the combos, strings, and attributes

What were "Baba's Crystal Ball Movies"?

Those were actually both in the standard PS2 edition too. It's only the HD version were they're absent.DBZAOTA482 wrote:The opening sequence for Budokai 2. The Japanese version and the Instrumental one.johnboy1 wrote:What were "Baba's Crystal Ball Movies"?
