I feel sorry for DB Games fans

Post by coola » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:21 am

While Kenji Yamamoto score for Kai was ok (Too much repetition was Nagasaki fault) his Dragon Ball video game score is really great, and i think it is unfair, that all rereleases of DB games have different soundtrack (Super Butoden 2 is latest example) it didnt bothered everyone 20 years ago, why would it bother now? :( There are always emulators/original systems, but still....

It's a burden on anyone who likes consistency, but the only person to blame is Yamamoto himself. He knew what he was doing, had been doing it for years, and it finally caught up to him. In the long run, I think it will be better for DB as a franchise to not have, quite frankly, a thief associated with it.

Fans should be happy they even get so many games. Fans of Bleach wish they even had one.

You mean localized, right? Because there's a ton of them. BLEACH had made its way overseas when a lot of its games were on older systems, like the GameBoy Advance. We got a chunk of the DS and Wii games.

Or, if you're referring to newly minted games, well... That ship has probably sailed.

I'm talking recently, in the past 5 years there's been like one, maybe two Bleach video games. Then there's a lot of other popular anime that hardly get games at all, especially on home consoles and even then they might not get released outside of Japan.

Meanwhile DBZ fans get maybe 2 games a year so they don't need to be felt sorry for just over some music in the game.

Batman fans get less games than us but I'm damn well not gonna be sorry for them when their recent games are 10x better than the best we've got. What matters is quality not quantity.

At least Batman still has video games. Even if Bleach or other series even had the games they would more than likely be no better than the DBZ games anyway.

So DBZ games have both quantity and arguably quality when compared to every other anime series.

Well I bought RB2 when it first came out and kept my original copies of the Budokai games and always intended to keep them so it's not that much of a problem for me. I think it hurts Kai fans more because that's harder to get a hold of with the Yamamoto score, and it's only available for part of the series.

As far as the games are concerned I'd say the likes of Xenoverse and English BT2 have pretty great scores anyway. I'll even say the replacement music in Budokai 3 HD was pretty solid overall.

Though most DBZ games for the past 7 years have sucked compared to Naruto games.... another multi-billion dollar anime/manga franchise.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

At least Dragon Ball has got yearly games for the past decade. Most franchises I know don't get games that much. Like being a fan of Spawn like myself, we haven't had a new Spawn game in 12 years.

I'm not so sure Naruto is a multi-billion dollar franchise like Dragon Ball.

Which is why I included the word arguably because it's the only anime series that has games anywhere near as good. While Storm 1-3 were better than any DBZ games of late, the two in between weren't that good. The handheld games have also been pretty poor.

It definitely is. It may not be o the extent if Dragon Ball but it's made billions for sure.

A big part of this fanbase don't realize how spoiled they are. Not taltking about games only, but Funimation milking and Toei new stuff too.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It has been for the past decade. Naruto became big in the US since it took over Dragon Ball's popularity seeing that DBZ's popularity pretty much drop after it ended. GT did well on Toonami, but it was still nowhere as popular as DBZ was. The Naruto movies seem to get limited releases in the US as well from what I can remember.

I just want them to give me Budokai 4 or Budokai Tenkaichi 4. Or have something like Tekken but that goes from the inception of the BT to the 20th tournament. A prologue to DB pt.1 on Earth would be fantastic. While still having that fighting game and added story to the franchise. There is room for a lot of stuff but we have been stuck mostly in circles since after BT3. Raging Blast 1, and most recently XV seem to be trying to break that mold. RB2 went back to being generic. BoZ was meh.

edit: Or do the "Life & times of Bardock" that would be great as well. His story from his young days to getting hitched, fighting Freeza, being sent back, killing Chilled then trying to find his way back to his timeline. Sort of like Planet of the Apes series.

Along with the words they made me speak. With each change, I changed too. My thoughts, personality, how I saw right and wrong. Words - can - kill."
