Apparently in chapter #118 Toriyama forgot to draw Tenshinhan's armbands as he's preparing to rebound the Kamehameha. Shueisha seems to have fixed this in the tankobon, but then had a change of heart and un-fixed it in the kanzenban. I thought I was dealing with a scan that had been tampered with, but the fix is in Viz's graphic novel version as well.
So what's the deal? Why would Shueisha go back on this but keep all the other tweaks?

Re: Tenshinhan's armbands at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai
Very strange, because he's armband-free in my tankoubon vol.10 (27th printing). I always thought it was something Viz added themselves. If the fix is only in certain tankoubon editions, that might explain why the Kanzenban didn't adopt it (possibly just through them overlooking that a corrected version existed). It's also possible the Kanzenban staff considered the original uncorrected version to be truer to Toriyama's art, though this doesn't seem to have been their philosophy most of the time. Or maybe they just had a thing for Tenshinhan's wrists.

I think mine is the 36th printing, is that right?Herms wrote:Very strange, because he's armband-free in my tankoubon vol.10 (27th printing).
I've known about the missing armbands for years now (it happens a couple of times as he's fighting Goku), so you could imagine my surprise when I was looking through the manga and saw Tenshinhan wearing them, though this seems to be the only time when they're drawn back on. When I saw how ugly and obviously tacked on the artwork was, I honestly thought that I was dealing with a scan that someone decided to fix on their own.
So I guess we're dealing with another "DAGON BALL"/"DRAGON BALL" thing, eh? Something that's apparently touched up between the 27th and 36th printings.
