Clones in DBZ fighters over the years
A common complaint among reviewers against DBZ games (particularly the fighters) is how characters have an identical feel to them.
Can you name all the characters throughout the DBZ fighters released over the years that play exactly the same as another or identical?
Budokai: Hercule (Tien-clone), Recoome (Nappa-clone), Zarbon (#16-clone), Dodoria (#19-clone)
#18 also plays extremely similar to #17 but she has different <P chains, PPP>P combo, KKKK combo, and >>K. Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, and Krillin also play extremely similar to each other but have certain chains that one other doesn't.
Budokai 2: Gohan (Goku-clone), Tien (Yamcha-clone), Goten/Trunks (they're clones of each other), Videl (Hercule-clone), Supreme Kai (Frieza-clone), Recoome (Nappa-clone), Dr. Gero (#17-clone), Dabura (Cell-clone), Super Buu (Majin Buu-clone)
Damn, Budokai 2 has a lot of clones...
Sagas: Everyone
Self-explanatory

Haven't we already gotten these in GT? Goku dies, the DBs go away, and the Namekian DBs most likely won't be used again because of the Evil Dragons.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

When I think of clones in videogames, I think of Smash Bros. None of the DBZ games I played have clones to the extension of that series.

Do you really think that Smash has more clones than the Dragon Ball games have had over the years? Look at the Sparking! series for goodness' sake! I'm not saying Smash doesn't have a few clones, but it's not nearly as bad as some Dragon Ball games have been in the past.FoolsGil wrote:When I think of clones in videogames, I think of Smash Bros. In Smash 4 there's a character called Lucina. She is Marth's daughter and they are both a character seperate slot. She has all his attacks, grab moves, and specials. The only difference between the two: Her sword has different properties, easier to smash than with Marth. That's It.DoomieDoomie911 wrote:Do you really think that Smash has more clones than the Dragon Ball games have had over the years? Look at the Sparking! series for goodness' sake! Show me two different characters with the exact same attacks, and the only difference is one hits harder than the other, and I'd concede.

Again, I'm not saying that Smash doesn't have any clones (look at Dr. Mario), I'm just saying that Dragon Ball games have had more in the past. Most characters in Smash have a unique feel to them. You can't really say the same thing with a lot of past Dragon Ball games (especially the Sparking! series).FoolsGil wrote:In Smash 4 there's a character called Lucina. Okay so some of the characters throw a punch the same, or do the same grabs. Perhaps if this was Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat, yes, they would be clones. But the joy and glee from DBZ games don't come from the normal game mechanics-the glee comes from the special attacks. And in Sparking aka Budokai Tenkaichi everyone gets their own special attacks (exception of After image and whatever) So we'll have to agree to disagree, but imho there are no clones in DBZ fighters. Not unless their special moveset was the same from the top, down.DoomieDoomie911 wrote: Again, I'm not saying that Smash doesn't have any clones (look at Dr. Mario), I'm just saying that Dragon Ball games have had more in the past.
