New Action Figures

Post by Deus ex Machina » Fri Apr 07, 2006 2:18 am

Normally I don't follow DBZ merchandising too much, outside of the epsidodes and video games, but I just had to call attention to this new "Black SSJ3 Goku". After looking at this, does anyone else get horrible flash backs of fan made SSJ6 pictures made through inverting the hair color in photoshop?

Goku looks like he's been attacked by some sort of demon and had his "life force" drained from him..... Dang that is ugly.

Reminds me of Saint Seiya, when they introduced the Black Saints, which in a way seemed like such a plug to essentially print and sell the same figures, but in black, and people'd buy them.

"Retail Price: $0.00
Our Price: $13.50"

Heh.

Figure doesn't look too good, either.

Actually, the feet in the actual manga/anime aren't that big to begin with, if I recall correctly.

That figure DOES look like one of those fanmade characters.
His head doesn't even match the skin of the rest of him. :?

"ZOMG EVIL FUTURE TRUNKS HAS SPREAD HIS EVIL TO GOKU WHO GOES SSJ2.5MILLION!!!!11111 LOLZER"

Okay sorry, couldn't help myself. Though if they put a mock DBAF logo on the packaging of this Goku, I think the fan reaction would be hilarious. This also reminds me how much SSJ3 Goku looks like Raditz.

Yeah, that happens for pretty much all of the American DBZ figures; there's at least one kind of flaw with the charcter's skin, whether it be too dark, too light, or it looks like they have a rash all over their body (Majin Vegeta)...

The same kinda happened with that one Japanese release with the interchangeable Goku heads-- one for each level of SSJ and his normal level. Nevertheless, I still bought it.

I'd say this is an attempt at being black and white, somewhat like what you see on the tankoubon versions of what were colored pages. >_>; Just a hunch.

LOL, I hate these stupid Black & White figures, they just look bad....trying to base actions figures directly off the manga...how silly...funniest thing is, there's a B & W SSJ4 Goku & Vegeta.
Vegito: What do you call a Goku & a Vegeta? Gogeta sounds nice.

XP looks -nothing- like the manga... Goku's all glowy n' shiny and his shirt isn't darker than his pants and his skin is one tone and his hair'd be white...

The only person I can imagine buying this--- would be someone with no access to other figurines, or someone with a 'repainting figures' hobby.

Uh, most colorblind people can still see in black and white, I think.

Yup. There are several different kinds of 'colour blindness'. They see certain colours as other coloyrs. My girlfriend's little brothers are colour blind. They see green as a redish-brown colour. It's not that they don't know what 'green' is. it's just they don't see it like we do.

And they would think that figure sucks ass too.

Thankfully, the wee-smaller toys look better than the action figures they've been recently making. o_O

It's official. Most Dragon Ball toys suck.
