If You Could Permanently Kill Off One Character...
...who would they be and why? A morbid topic, yes, but I often see a lot of posts concerning how a character in the series, namely in Super, vexes them, how if they could just be removed and be sent out of the way, the story would become better as a result. Okay. Fine. But what if DEATH was the only way that "hinderance" could be taken out of the equation and a permanent one at that? Would you still go through with it?

Yamcha, because his relevance and significance in the story has been nonexistent for years on end. Other than pissing Beerus off and almost having Earth be destroyed.

Chaozu, the most useless character in the entire series.

Whis, because I'm jelous of him and I just like the idea of a God being perma killed.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:

Kuririn, as sad as it would be, but death has to mean something or there are no stakes.

Controversially; Goku as bizarre as it sounds.
As soon as Goku turns up you know everythings going to be a-okay in a way you don't with anyone else.
When Goku died in Trunks timeline, everything went sour. When Goku tried to permenantly stay dead for the Buu saga; the planet ended up all exploded. If I'm honest due to Goku's ridiculous power advantages to everyone else at this stage, I find it rather hard to feel like anything is truly at stake whilst he's still breathing or at least present, which has always been a flaw of the series.
Dragonball has always worked better, at least IMO, when Goku is out of comission; Namek wouldn't have been half as tense or nerve wrecking if Goku had been there from the get go or if he'd been there to fight Nappa and Vegeta from the very start.
Did anyone truly believe Goku wouldn't pummel Golden Frieza in the RoF movie? The moment he and Vegeta get to the battlefield it feels like all the struggle is gone and I'm far less invested in the battle because it's no longer a dire situation.

I have blood in the eyes constantly changing... If you ask me now, I'd say Pilaf and his gang. Simply because Toei is forcing them down our throats. There's no need or reason to give them the huge amount of screen time they are getting.

I would say Goku, because Gohan is my favorite character, and I'm still miffed he took back the main character spot from my boy, but I still love goku and it might be odd to pass the torch again through death.
.....But I don't really dislike any character. So I'll just go with Goku. I'm sure he'd be fine either way.

I want them to kill off that green octopus king who came with Jaco. Its design is so boring.

I was gonna Yamcha just to put him out of his misery but I'd go with Goku as well... he's boring now and his character is well past his prime.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Re: If You Could Permanently Kill Off One Character...
The Dragonballs existed long before Goku and theoritically should exist long after. I'd love to see some pre Goku Dragonball action. Or Dragonball after Goku is long gone.ABED wrote:Then it's no longer Dragon Ball.DBZAOTA482 wrote:I was gonna Yamcha just to put him out of his misery but I'd go with Goku as well... he's boring now and his character is well past his prime.

There's definitely something to be said for that. I think it's worth nothing that the only times we've ever seen Goku get angry--and I mean really, really angry--were the two times that Krillin was killed.ABED wrote:Kuririn, as sad as it would be, but death has to mean something or there are no stakes.
I may be breaking the rules here, but you never specified when I could kill them, so I'm going to go with Freeza on Namek. Permanently. After that, he never returns. Have King Cold arrive solo on Earth and establish that he is just as strong as Freeza, if not stronger, in order to keep the effectiveness of Trunks's introduction in tact. And Resurrection 'F' never happens (though I kind of enjoyed it, it mostly felt like a waste of time).
