There's way too many of these stinking DragonBox threads....

Post by kenisu3000 » Tue May 30, 2006 8:52 pm

... even so, sorry. I posted on the official DragonBox The Movies thread a plea for someone to help me make a belated purchase of said Box, but I guess that thread's been abandoned or something. Just today, I bid on the Z Box vol. 2 on eBay, but some so-and-so swooped in under me and must have made the seller a really good offer, because they ended the auction early (and dammit, I was winning, too), so I need at least the Movie Box to soothe my pain!

Where's my Prozac? It's been one of those days...

I just need some help through the checkout process on Amazon Japan, that's all. Thanks for your time.

Do you have an Amazon Japan account? If so, then it'll be pretty easy to buy the Dragon Box.

Buying Via amazon.jp is the exact same as buying through Amazon.com. You just need to know where things are (and if it says "display in english", click on it)

Yeah, it's very easy. I've made various orders (including the Dragonbox) there with ease. You can change all the important things you need to know into english. You can even use your Amazon.com account on Amazon.jp too, which I recommend, since it makes signing up easier if you know little/no Japanese.
If you need help with any part, feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to help you out. ^_^

Thanks. Is there anything I have to do about the currency, or will my money be automatically converted to Yen? (I apologize if that's a stupid question.) And about how much is 42,000 Yen equal to in U.S. dollars again (just to give me an idea, as shipping and customs will also be added to the final cost)?

Currency is automatically converted. I know that certian cards, cant think of which, automatically charge for conversion but its not exactly commonplace.

A good currency converter is www.xe.com. At the moment, 42,000 yen in US dollars is $375 or so.

Well, I've placed the order. Thanks everyone for all your help! :)

...Oh, BTW, what kind of Region 2 or Region-Free DVD player should I get? Any recommendations?

Here's a muuuch cheaper solution. Buy an Action Replay for the PS2 (if you have one). It allows you to play any region DVD. :)

Or if you find the brand and model number of your current DVD player, and search google, you might be able to find the specific sequence to changing/decoding your DVD players region.

This place is a great online store that offers some Region-Free players at different prices. Even the most expensive one they have is pretty reasonably priced though, including shipping. I bought that one myself actually. 8)

Thanks, Jersey (and thanks Blitzen and Tsukento - it's just that I went with the online store option as I don't have a PS2, and don't want to risk hacking my Region 1 player)!
Can't wait to get all this good stuff in the mail.

EDIT: CRAP, I just realized I posted this on the General Discussion forum, instead of the Questions forum where it belongs. Man, I musta been out of it. Sorry guys.
...Well, it's all water under the bridge anyway, so lock topic please, Mike!

I've heard that the $29.99 Cyberhome DVD player at Best Buy is region free. Not having tested it myself, I cannot confirm it to be 100% factual. However, if it isn't true, you're only out $30 and you have an extra player for another TV in your house.

Oh yes I forgot about Cyberhome! Thanks for reminding me Akira. It is indeed Region-Free and plays quite well from what I've seen. My fiance Rob(Xyex) has one. I purchased the one in the link for myself though because I happened to want a DVD player with more capabilities, such as able to play formats other than DVD and CD. But if you're just looking for a simple player that's Region-Free and much cheaper, then ya it's good choice.

I had a region-free DVD player and I didn't even know it. Imagine that.
