Evidence that FUNimation might reveal DB Super's TV channel/release dates SOON
Evidence that FUNimation might reveal DB Super's TV channel/release dates SOON
Here's why I think it's completely possible that as soon as this month OR next month that Funimation will announce where Dragon Ball Super is airing: They've recently announced their license of Dragon Ball Super, right? Same thing happened with Dragon Ball Kai back in February 2010
(http://www.kanzenshuu.com/2010/02/02/na ... i-license/). And guess what happened the following month: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/2010/03/11/en ... nicktoons/ If you didn't feel like reading that, it was news on the official March 2010 announcement of where Dragon Ball Z Kai was airing, which was Nicktoons for May 2010.
"But wait a sec, mecha - The voice actors claimed they haven't even started dubbing the series yet." Well: https://www.reddit.com/r/dbz/comments/4 ... _photo_of/ yeah. As far as I'm concerned, this was legit and Funimation had already begun dubbing the series. So, it's possible that DB Super already has dubbed episodes that can start being released/aired. Unless other voice actors haven't finished recording certain scenes a la Sean Schemmel for Kai's Buu Saga - I'm confident we can see the English dub release as soon as early next year.
So, I'm going to put my thoughts for the possible TV channels out there (one time last before an official announcement) - I genuinely believe Super will be airing on a kids channel due to the toy deal. I've recently favored Disney XD due to Super being more kid-friendly and the kids anime/Marvel/Star Wars (I've brought this up several times, now haha) content already airing there, which might benefit Super. However, I don't think it'd be the end of the world if Nicktoons got it again. Interestingly enough, Nick aired Miraculous Ladubug (which has a Bandai toyline based on a Toei Animation production) and Disney XD is airing Beyblade (also has a toyline). Nicktoons also airs Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh along with Miraculous. Then, there's Cartoon Network (but I'm not sure about this happening right now). However, Adult Swim's Toonami will most likely air Dragon Ball Super either alongside Kai's Buu Saga OR after the Buu Saga (and the kids channel will already be further along like Nicktoons was before Toonami).
If I had to say, the kids channel will either be NICK/NICKTOONS or DISNEY XD. And then for the nostalgia older crowd, it will be Adult Swim's TOONAMI. I'm not sure Cartoon Network would want Dragon Ball Super on their channel at this point, but who knows? So, would anyone else like to throw their thoughts out there since the long wait is nearing its end?

I think it's more likely Super is going to appear on regular Nick instead of Nicktoons. Why? Because when Kai aired on Nicktoons, it also ran on Toonzai/Vortexx, meaning it could reach households that didn't have Nicktoons. Since those don't exist anymore, running on Nickelodeon would probably be the best compromise to reach the most amount of people, as regular Nick is more of a "basic" channel than Nicktoons is.

Dude, I LOVE you and your enthusiasm but I think you are making too many threads. I say so because I too make one too many sometimes lol.
Anime News Network Already said Funimation will reveal the TV Deal shortly too.

Honestly, I would like to see Dragon Ball Super air on main/regular Nick - But there's one problem: Much of Nick's live-action shows are full of cringe. This is why I worry for DB Super being on Nick. Disney XD, however, feels less cringe than Nick with its shows. However, I have checked out some of The Loud House and I can see DB Super airing alongside good cartoons like this. Still, their live action crap......Danfun64 wrote:I think it's more likely Super is going to appear on regular Nick instead of Nicktoons. Why? Even Nicktoons airs some of the cringe Nick shows so only time will tell which network gets Dragon Ball Super. But yeah, I would like for Nick to get it so it'd be more accessible to fans VERSUS how Nicktoons was with Kai. And if Disney XD got it (like you said), not everyone would have this channel. And Nick has aired Miraculous Ladybug - which has a Bandai America toyline and is a Toei Animation production. So yeah, we'll see what happens.
Also, my bad Cure. I gotta admit this is my third one relating to a tv deal, but the only reason I decided to make it is because more people may be interested in the thread now that Super has been announced for an English dub. Plus, I wanted to make the comparison with Kai to Super's tv deal and this one's more related to an announcement rather than speculation. And honestly, I was unaware Anime News Network talked about a tv deal. But like I said above, this is my last speculation thread until we get an OFFICIAL announcement about where Super will air. So yeah, once again - Sorry for the annoying abundance of threads.

I think Toonami/[adult swim] will not be happy if FUNi allows a big television competitor to get the brand new DB series before them. If an edited dub is going to air anywhere, it will be Cartoon Network. Pokémon left Kids' WB after Season 9 for Cartoon Network. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX aired on Cartoon Network instead of Kids' WB. While those are slightly different situations, the fact that Toonami and FUNi are working together to air Z Kai should be a hint of things playing out differently. FUNi originally wanted Z Kai to air on Cartoon Network, but Cartoon Network turned them down, forcing them to search out alternate channels. True, Z Kai aired on Nicktoons and Z Kai, but I think that's a result of both channels being controlled by CBS to some extent. The same isn't true for Nicktoons/Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network/Toonami. I don't know a single show that aired on these two at the exact same time. As a result,I truly don't see anything DB related returning to Nickelodeon so long as Toonami is still airing it.

I love this previous post and agree 100% i do think that cartoon network will air Super both edited and uncut CN and Adult Swim. I personally love the idea of Super being on more than once a week so i hope CN gets it first. Let Toonami finish up Kai with the Boo Arc.

I'm not exactly familiar with the American version of Cartoon Network but couldn't they have Dragon Ball Super air during the day on CN when the target audience of kids will be watching and then have the Majin Boo saga of Dragon Ball Kai air on Toonami where the fans of DBZ used to watch the show (not to mention it's where DBZK is already airing right now)? This sounds like the ideal situation in my opinion, I also don't see a reason why any kids network would pass at the chance to air Super since it's a show attached to a hugely popular multi million dollar franchise packed with kid friendly action and humour, I'm sure any TV network executive would be able to see if for the hot property that it is.

But how can that be possible if Viacom owns Nickelodeon, Disney owns XD and Turner Broadcasting owns Toonami and Cartoon Network?mecha3000 wrote:If I had to say, the kids channel will either be NICK/NICKTOONS or DISNEY XD. These are rival companies, surely it wouldn't make sense for them to share the license to Dragonball Super.

Someone asked Rager at a Con over the week and Rager said that 10 episodes have been dubbed. Still unsure whether he may have meant he's dubbed 10 or the first 10 episodes are indeed dubbed and done.mecha3000 wrote: "But wait a sec, mecha - The voice actors claimed they haven't even started dubbing the series yet." I think CN might be a bad idea, unless they do better with 3rd party shows. Look, Pokémon is on on Saturday mornings at like 8 in the morning and Sonic Boom is on at 5 in the morning. So unless they advertise 3rd party shows more, I don't think a lot of kids that watch Cartoon Network would watch Super.

They could just do the logical thing of having it in an afternoon after school slot and advertising it as "the sequel to Dragon Ball Z", I'm sure most kids today must have heard of DBZ and know about its reputation not to mention that DBS is a show that kids would like but also would have a huge audience of existing DBZ fans who will watch it wherever they put it especially if it's being aired on its first run exclusively on CN, like they could put it in a kids timeslot and they'll get loads of teen and adult fans who will also be tuning in to watch. Again, I'm really hoping that the network executives are fully aware of how much of a huge property the Dragon Ball series is.simtek34 wrote:I think CN might be a bad idea, unless they do better with 3rd party shows. Remember:They cancelled Toonami. They dont care about anime anymore. They would drown the show instead of supporting it.
