DBZ and the moon?!

Post by Mystic Jack » Sun Sep 10, 2006 1:52 am

What's the deal? Relating to the change from DB to DBZ, we all know that in the 21st Budokai, Roshi blew up the moon to prevent Goku from ever transforming into an Oozaru. However, once again we see in DBZ Gohan transform into the big monkey and see Piccolo blowing up the moon. And then we see in the Tree of Might, Gohan turning into an Ooozaru, again, AND there's the whole issue with SSJ4 and the golden Oozaru. Maybe I'm really rusty or something, but I'm quite confused with this one?

WTF?!!!!! :?

During whichever Tenkaichi Budokai is at the end of Dragon Ball, when someone (I think it was Kuririn, not sure) asks Goku what happened to his tail, he says Kami removed it so he could bring back the moon.

It's clearly brought up during the 23rd Budokai in DB that Kami restored the moon, but removed Goku's tail "permanently" before doing such. How Kami did it is unknown, but must've been some Namekian trick (my guess) due to the green tone. This was off-screen, and happened in original DB, so I guess it's not common knowledge for every fan. Regarding the Golden Oozaru incidents in GT, that can be explained as such; ignore dub Bulma's statement in episode 55 about the moon, and go by the given fact that a Saiyan with enough Super ascension can absorb the Brutz Waves of a full planet. Goku did so when fighting Baby on the new Planet Plant once he saw the full Earth, and Baby-Vegeta and Vegeta himself did it thanks to Bulma's Brutz Wave machine.

As for when Gohan transforms in front of Piccolo, that was only a hologram of the moon, from a Saiyan Pod.

And in the Tree of Might, Gohan transformed from Tullece's energy ball thingy (like Vegeta made when he fought Goku the first time), not the moon.

So Piccolo got all pissed off at a hologram of the moon?

I think he blames the moon for censoring Gohan's apple dream.

Well, if you recall, Gohan transforms twice during his training with Piccolo, at least in the anime. The first time is with the real moon, as aforementioned being brought back by Kami at the end of DB, which quickly met its end, again, via Piccolo. The second time is with the spacepod you mentioned.

LOL, if we were as dedicated to our studies as we are to DragonBall we'd have it made.

I always wondered what catastrophic incidents happened after the moon was destroyed a second time by Piccolo. I mean the tides and a lot of other things would have been screwed up.

Also I hate that "holographic moon" anime filler... :x I mean how can a hologram emit reflected sunlight? Isin't that what a Saiyan needs to transform.

Luckily for the world, surfing isn't all that popular in the DBverse. =D And no plant or animal what so ever relied on the workings of the tides in order to survive. Thank goodness really.

Why, they all flocked to Kani-sennin, the crab hermit and long lost brother of Kame-sennin.

Wow, I have nothing to say to that. Roshi having a brother would just be scary.

I forgot all about that. I didn't know he attacked the moon twice.
