Am I the only one who finds Viz's ratings kinda weird? They have the DB manga rated for Teen but the DBZ one is rated for All Ages. The only time I remember DBZ being rated for Teen was in their 3-in-1 edition.
Is DBZ rated A just because it doesn't contain nudity and adult jokes? But what about the violence? DBZ is way more violent than DB. That way they are making DBZ look less mature than DB.
Furthermore, DBZ is the continuation of DB. What's the point of rating it A if readers have already read DB which is rated T?
Both series should have been rated T, not only DB. What do you think?

It's almost certainly the nudity in the first batch of volumes ("Dragon Ball") compared to the latter bunch ("Dragon Ball Z"). There was a somewhat major incident where a Toys R Us shopper blew a gasket over the nudity in the manga, which is what resulted in said rating.
American media and publishers are more sensitive to protecting from sexual material than violent material.
This article on our site has a few good links to some of these major events that led to the manga being treated the way it is.

American attitudes are like that. You can have Gohan punching Cell Junior's face off and sending gore flying into the air, but have Bulma flash her boobs to Roshi so the blood from his nosebleed splashes over the invisible man, and you're poisoning the minds of children...TheRed259 wrote:Is DBZ rated A just because it doesn't contain nudity and adult jokes? The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.
