Krillin's face and Yamcha's face

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Krillin's face and Yamcha's face

Post by Jackal puFF » Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:56 pm

What's up with krillin having no nose?

How did Yamcha get those scars on his face?

Kuririn never had a nose. They even acknowledge this during his fight with Bacterian.

Yamucha actually got his scars during his training for the 23rd Tenkaichi Tournament (the one with Majunior) but we never actually see how he got them. Probably one of the biggest missed opportunities for decent filler.

I always assumed that Krillin did have a nose (atleast as far as the other characters were concerned). Goku's reference to it in Dragonball was just an "in joke" for the reader.

Especially since his nose bleeds in the Jackie Chun fight after he takes a hit or two to the face.

Hmm. In the first episode of Dr. Slump, I seem to recall a character without a nose acting as though Arale lacking a nose was cause for suspicion, to which Senbei responded "Do you really expect the artist to draw them?!" Or... something like that.
Short answer to the nose thing: Toriyama. Gag manga. Krillin wasn't going to randomly grow a nose halfway through the series. And given the various oddities in most of the characters, it doesn't give many people cause for question.

Yamcha... Uh... ... got his scars sparring with Yajirobe. :P. *

* I just made that up.

Ah, yes, Senbei was trying to pass Arale off as human in order to prove his brilliant design:

Aoi: "Why doesn't she have a nose?"
Senbei: "None of us have noses! This is a gag manga, dammit!"

Oh, wow. *takes notes for the never-to-be-completed DB RPG project*

Aw, you can't possibly suggest that that would be more interesting than Goku watching some old guy fish?

Oh, pre-23rd Budokai filler, how painful you were...

Puberty?

That's one of the greatest mysteries in all of Dragon Ball.

I'm pretty sure that is actually what it says in her Daizenshuu 7 bio.

Wow, man. That's just weird.

Oddly enough, I gained my sense of smell right around hitting puberty. Maybe we're related.

What, you didn't enjoy the 3 episode fight against lava?

Well Aremke's OC Kyonshi slashed Yamcha and gave him those cars, on Elsewhere why not use that as canon :) *

*don't have to do that :)

It's funny how he could "smell" Bacterian up until Goku reminded him that he couldn't. There's even a scene of him covering up where his nose would be.

Especially in his next fight, he snorted boogers at Jackie Chun.

Presumably from fighting the androids. I think the Trunks special may even show that he gets them around the same time that he loses his arms, but its been awhile. In the manga, he just starts off scared and one-armed, and its pretty much a given that the androids did that to him.

Thanks, now it makes sense.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
