Coola's Power Level / Comparisons
On this page Herms says that Coola's powerlevel when not transformed is 140.000.000 and when he is transformed 470.000.000, but is this true? Because that would be ridiculously high and Goku would never be able to beat him or even match up with him... I mean Goku was 150.000.000 when he fought Freeza and Coola in his true form (fourth form) wasn't that big of a match for Goku.

That's just something I got off the Japanese Wikipedia page for DBZ movie 5. It's since been removed from the page, so I'm kind of doubtful that it was official. But all the background info on Coola's henchmen. with the exception of their battle powers, is found in either Daizenshuu 7 or DBZ Son Goku Densetsu (mostly in the latter), so that's all official. That stuff was originally published in an issue of Weekly Jump that came out before DBZ movie 5's premier.

Re: Coola's powerlevel
Herms would have to address whether the combat strength numbers came from a reliable source or not. However, the Daizenshuu timeline explains that Coola invaded earth during the 3 years of training in preparation for the Artificial Humans. Therefore, by that time, Kakarrot’s base power level would have increased and thus his Super Saiyan transformation would have been a lot stronger after it multiplied his base by 50. Apparently, his base combat strength was probably around “140.000.000” since he fought evenly with Coola’s 4th form.Eison wrote:On this page Herms says that Coola's powerlevel when not transformed is 140.000.000 and when he is transformed 470.000.000, but is this true? 140,000,000/20 = 7 million * 50 = 350,000,000. His base probably wasn't seven million.
I'm assuming his base was around ten million as that would put his Super Saiyan form at 500,000,000

According to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prj1aU0W4Jc Kakarrot only used Kaiô-Ken when Coola transformed to the 5th form or Final Form. Unless you want to argue that he was using that 10x invisible Kaiô-Ken like he did on Namek during the pre-Super Saiyan fight with Freeza.JulieYBM wrote:...He was using the Kaiô-Ken.

Re: Coola's powerlevel
Well we do not see any evidence of that unless the Japanese subs or Daizenshuu tell us different which I have not seen as of yet. In my opinion, the safest course is to say that we were seeing the fruits of his training thus far in preparation for the Artificial Humans.JulieYBM wrote:I was implying the invisible Kaiô-Ken, yes.Saiyan-Professor wrote:According to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prj1aU0W4Jc Kakarrot only used Kaiô-Ken when Coola transformed to the 5th form or Final Form. Re: Coola's powerlevel
Many things in Dragonball are farfetched and just look at the spikes in the power levels on Namek. Some of them were ridiculous even when you factor in near-death experiences. Once we go beyond the Namek Saga the combat powers skyrocket from there. Therefore, Kakarrot’s base power level jumping should not be a total shock. To be honest I like seeing them fight strong opponents in base form more then them immediately relying on the Super Saiyan multiplier for it shows progress.JulieYBM wrote:...But to see such a jump from 3 million to 140 million seems a little far fetched.

We say that because the Daizenshuu and Dragonball GT Perfect Files said that it was and so for those of us that hold to those guides for the most part will maintain that belief.Rocketman wrote:Why do people keep saying Super Saiyan is a straight multiplier?

Metal Cooler = equivalent to #18, as he dominated Goku and Vegeta individually as SSJ1's, but was defeated when they combined strength.
Cooler's final form was a bit stronger than Freeza at 100%, but not all that much so. A hit he landed on Goku at SSJ lacked any impact at all. At least Freeza's blows provoked a reaction.

The problem is that people see Kakarrot at the same combat strength as he was on Namek. The events of movie 5 took place within the 3-year period before they fought Androids #19 and 20. Wait, Goku lands on Namek and the rest of the Freeza saga is finished on September 24th? I thought, as it was posted in a recent thread, that it was on December 24th, Christmas Eve.Saiyan-Professor wrote:The problem is that people see Kakarrot at the same combat strength as he was on Namek. Yes, but after fighting Freeza, Goku's base power level increased greatly from the effects of his Saiyan blood. If Goku ran into Coola before Freeza, even as a SSJ, Goku would of had a much tougher battle than he had in movie 5. Goku also had some experience with his SSJ powers before he fought Coola, so he had more control of it when the time came to use it. That's why he was very calm when he transformed in movie 5. That's my perspective.omegacwa wrote:I know Cooler in movie 5 is supposed to be stronger than Freeza, but Goku stomps him so bad after he turns SSJ. I would say Metal Cooler is stronger than Freeza, because it tool 2 SSJs to beat him, but I wouldn't say he was that much stronger.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.
I don't see how. #17 even said that #18 couldn't handle Piccolo, Trunks and the others while fighting Vegeta as well. That's not too far a stretch to say that two basic SSJ's > #18, therefore since two SSJ's > Metal Cooler, that Metal Cooler = #18.Yamcha_krillin wrote: Meta Cooler was stronger then two SSJ but he wasn't stronger by much since he was destroyed by two SSJ's.I wouldn't put him close to 18 since probably even stronger SSJ's were helpless against her.
Well the movie shows that Cooler transformed as a reaction to Goku's base. When Goku and Cooler fought, Goku had a slight advantage.Saiyan-Professor wrote:

Goku clearly did better against Cooler's base than he did when he fought Freeza's final form base. This implies that Goku made a significant jump since his fight with Freeza.
Cooler's final form should have enabled his chest punch on Goku to have some impact. It didn't. Therefore in the immediate period after the Freeza fight, Goku gained at least some strength (presumably in response to him being more accustomed to the SSJ state, or possibly due to a Goku simply not fighting at his full power with Freeza due to exhaustion).
EDIT: reworded to make more sense. My essential point is Goku got stronger after his fight with Freeza, enough so to make Cooler seem even weaker than Freeza, when in actuality Cooler was a bit stronger.
