Planet Freeza No. 79 is a fictional celestial body that appears in the Dragon Ball franchise, one of an unknown number of planets under Freeza's control in Universe 7.

General Overview

As its name would suggest, Planet Freeza No. 79 is a planet controlled by Freeza, serving as their central base.[1] Fluffy trees cover its ground.[1] Planet Freeza No. 79 is located eight days' worth of space pod travel from Earth.[2][1]

Inhabitants

Descriptive names of various characters seen as Planet Freeza No. 79 from the 1991 Carddass series as seen in Dragon Ball Extra Daizenshuu: Carddass Perfect File Part 1[3]

At the time of Vegeta's landing on November 22 in Age 762[4], several other members of Freeza's organization are present on Planet Freeza No. 79; other than Kewi, all of these characters are unnamed, and are instead given descriptive names in their 1990s Carddass cards[3], with one character receiving a different descriptor in 1996's Dragon Ball Daizenshuu 7: Dragon Ball Large Encyclopedia[5]:

  • Planet Warrior A (惑星戦士A Wakusei Senshi A)[3] / Planet Freeza No. 79 Controller (惑星フリーザNo.７９の管制員 Wakusei Furīza Nanbā Sebunti Nain no Kansei-in)[5]: A mustached, human-esque alien with a scouter, depicted with blue hair in the television series and red hair in his Carddass card; ostensibly mans the control room.[2][6]
  • Planet Warrior B (惑星戦士B Wakusei Senshi B)[3]: An Appule-esque alien with a scouter, depicted with purple skin in the television series and blue skin in his Carddass card.[2][6]
  • Regular Soldiers (雑兵たち Zōhyō-tachi)[3]: Three miscellaneous soldiers, two with helmets and all with scouters, who line up as Vegeta's space pod lands, curious as to why Nappa's pod is not alongside him.[2][6]
  • Doctor (医師 Ishi)[3]: A small, bird-like alien with orange hair that treats Vegeta in the Medical Machine.[2]
  • Kewi (キュイ Kyui): A stronger, purple-skinned alien that mocks Vegeta. Addressed with the "-sama" honorific by the doctor.[2][7]

Name

Planet Freeza No. 79 uses the phrasing structure of 惑星 (wakusei) + name similar to "Planet Vegeta", as opposed to name + 星 (sei) similar to "Planet Namek".

Per the furigana alongside the abbreviation and numerals, the number within the planet's name is spoken aloud in English as "number seventy nine".[6]
