Kewi is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series by Akira Toriyama. Kewi makes his debut in chapter 246, published in the 1989 #46 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Biography

Kewi is an elite soldier in Freeza's organization who has a self-proclaimed rivalry with Vegeta.[1] According to Zarbon, they have always hated each other and are about equal in strength.[2]

When Vegeta returns to Planet Freeza No. 79 badly injured in Age 762[3], Kewi tells the overseeing doctor that he wants to speak with Vegeta once he is healed. He waits in the training room, but Vegeta does not show. Kewi approaches him in a hallway instead, mocking the "supposedly invincible Saiyans" for getting beat up so badly, or even killed in the cases of Raditz and Nappa. Kewi says Freeza is angry with Vegeta for doing things without his permission, but also grateful that he discovered a way to obtain eternal life. Vegeta realizes Freeza has gone to Planet Namek to seek the wish-granting Dragon Balls, and takes off in all haste to try and claim the immortality wish for himself instead.[4]

Kewi follows Vegeta to Namek, saying he has Freeza's permission to kill him. He feels confident he can do so after checking his own and Vegeta's battle powers on his scouter, but Vegeta says he has learned something useful on Earth — the ability to control his battle power.[1] Vegeta powers up, and the number on Kewi's scouter skyrockets to over 22,000 until the device explodes. Kewi panics and suggests he and Vegeta should team up against Freeza, but Vegeta says he is tired of his lies. Claiming he is not lying, Kewi discreetly prepares an attack and suddenly yells out, pretending he sees Freeza. Vegeta looks behind him in surprise, and Kewi takes that opportunity to bombard him with ki blasts. When the smoke clears, Kewi believes he has won, but Vegeta is standing off to the side, completely unscathed. Kewi flies away in fear, but Vegeta easily catches up to him and punches him in the gut. He knocks him up into the air and makes him explode like a "dirty firework", in Vegeta's words.[5]
