With his trademark sunglasses and pompadour hairstyle, he is the master of ceremonies, ringside announcer, and judge of every Tenka'ichi Budōkai we see in Dragon Ball. He's full of professional guts, and will boldly continue his commentary even if his life is endangered during the match.
A contestant in the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai that has never bathed, Bacterian takes full advantage of his body odor and uses disgusting attacks to defeat his opponents. However, he meets his match in Kuririn, who lacks a nose and can withstand his foul odor.
A contestant in the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai, Giran faces off against Goku in the first round. A very strong opponent himself, he throws up the white flag and forfeits after witnessing Goku's true strength.
Jackie Chun is a mysterious old man, and the secret to his strength is... he's actually Kame-Sen'nin in disguise, albeit not a very good one (Yamcha figures it out almost right away). To challenge his students and ensure they'll continue their training after the tournament, Kame-Sen'nin enters the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai under this pseudonym. After winning, he returns again to compete in the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai.
He's a typical martial arts-looking guy who faces off against Kuririn in the preliminary round of the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai. He lands a bunch of hits on Kuririn, and even kicks him while he's on the ground, but Kuririn just gets back up unscathed. The guy hides behind the official after hearing Kuririn is going to counterattack, and quickly forfeits the match.
One of the finalists of the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai, Namu has entered the tournament to win the prize money which has plans to use to buy water for his drought ridden village. However, he is beaten by Son Goku in the semi-finals, but Kame-Sen'nin helps out Namu by giving him a Hoi Poi Capsule and telling him that in these parts of the world water is so plentiful, it is free.
They are Kuririn's former elder classmates from the Ōrin Temple who appear as participants at the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai. They pick on Kuririn and find out that one of them is going to fight him in one of the preliminary rounds, but they're shocked when Kuririn handily wins with his new strength gained from training with Kame-Sen'nin.
One of the finalists in the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai, she is actually quite a skilled fighter. However, when facing a male opponent that is much more skilled than her, she quickly ditches her clothes and uses her attractive body as a distraction to try to win.
An expert in Shishiga-Ryū (lit. "Lion's Fang Style") Kenpō, he faces off against Goku in the final preliminary match of Block Three of the 21st Tenka'ichi Budōkai. However, he quickly loses when Goku grabs him by the feet and tosses him out of the ring.
A world-famous master of the martial arts. His prowess is such that in the previous Tenka'ichi Budōkai he entered, he won the tournament without his opponents even touching him. However, he has a somewhat immature side as well, underestimating Goku and losing to him in the preliminaries.
A perverted wolf who transforms into a human when he looks at the full moon. Despite being a wolf, he only likes human girls and hates hairy ones. He enters the tournament and challenges Jackie Chun, who he bore a grudge against for destroying the moon and preventing him from becoming a human again.
A martial artist sporting a mohawk, he loses to Yamcha in the qualifying preliminary round when he is knocked unconscious with a single back-handed blow to the chin.
An established, and famous, star who has appeared in numerous popular action movies. Although he is the champion of two other worldwide martial arts tournaments, he quickly loses to Goku in the first round of the Tenka'ichi Budōkai.
A sumo wrestler that had the unfortunately luck of facing Tenshinhan in the preliminary rounds. He is defeated in the blink of an eye with four hand strikes and two kicks, although Tenshinhan performed the moves so fast that most of the onlookers did not see a thing.
A middle-aged man who simply came to watch the Tenka'ichi Budōkai, however his body was possessed by God in order to defeat Ma Junior (Piccolo). After God was sealed inside a bottle by Ma Junior, Shen returned to normal, but had no memory of his match. However, he was applauded by his son and the spectators.
A participant in the Youth Division, he is Ikose's older brother, and like his brother, he has a bad personality. He draws a match-up with Trunks, who he mocks for being a baby wearing diapers, but quickly loses when Trunks knocks him out.
A mean spirited kid, he is Idasa's younger brother. He was knocked out by Son Goten with a single blow to the chin in the first round of the Youth Division.
Universally recognized as a pretty boy, he is very popular among female fighting fans. He made a pass at No. 18 and got angry at her for turning him down, but was sent flying out of bounds with a side-kick, leaving him dizzy.
A petty man, he tries to conspire with Mighty Mask (Goten and Trunks) to team up against Mister Satan during the finals Battle Royale. Instead, Goten and Trunks send him flying out of bounds with a light punch.
Before the matches began, he was knocked out by Goten and Trunks, who then stole his clothes and posed as him to enter the adult tournament. However, No. 18 exposed them as frauds and they were disqualified.
A large man who severely makes fun of Kuririn before the tournament matches begin, but was then easily defeated. He moves his giant body with great speed, but in the end he is only at the level of an ordinary man.
A gaudy masked man who wears a flashy costume. In the lottery he drew a match-up with Kirano. In the anime, he is referred to as "Captain Chicken, the Messenger of Justice!"
A handsome boy who wears a Chinese-style costume. He drew #6 in the lottery, and was scheduled to face off against Captain Chicken. In Vegeta's opinion, he is the contestant with the highest battle power, outside of Goku, his friends, and Oob.
A bandana-wearing young delinquent. He picks a fight with Vegeta before the tournament begins, but Vegeta simply knocks him away with a back-handed blow. Later, after watching the battle between Goku and Oob, he pretended to have to go to the bathroom, and ran off.
A large, Mongoloid man who was defeated by Pan in no time flat during the first round of the tournament. He has bulging muscles, and his hair is tied into a pigtail.
A boy wearing boxing gloves, he is a participant in the Youth Division at the 25th Tenka'ichi Budōkai. Being scared, he starts crying at the beginning of his match, but then runs at his opponent flailing his arms, knocking him out of bounds.
Movie Original Characters
The following characters are original to Toei Animation's theatrical films based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball series.
In Dragon Ball Z Movie 9's Tenka'ichi Dai Budō Taikai, two hundred competitors fight across eight stages (with 25 contestants each) all at once during the preliminary battle; each stage's sole remaining fighter advances to the semi-finals. Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Kuririn, Trunks, Piccolo, and Son Gohan also enter the tournament. The tournament winner is promised a battle against Mr. Satan.
Originally arranges for Mr. Satan's students to fill the roll of alien "Galactic Warriors" to battle the tournament competitors, but they are replaced by Bojack's henchmen.
A strong warrior who makes it to the semi-finals at the Tenka'ichi Dai Budō Taikai, but is foot-swept out of the ring (and through a cliff) by Son Gohan.
A frightened boy with glasses who defeats Son Goku in the children's division finals at the 31st Tenka'ichi Budōkai by kicking him out of the ring following a distraction by Vegeta.
