"Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan: Evolution" is a transformation (thus far) exclusive to Vegeta, taking his strength beyond the previous Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan transformation. The stage features longer, spikier hair, a more pronounced aura, and sparkles.

Name

"Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Evolution" given a formal name for the first time in the "Super Dragon Ball Super: Universe Mission 1 - How To Play" promotional video

Following the transformation's in-universe debut in Dragon Ball Super Episode 123, the first instance of it being assigned a formal name came via a late-February 2018 stream from Bandai Namco promoting the then-upcoming "Universe Mission" update to the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game, where the text on-screen referred to it as 超サイヤ人ゴッドSS進化 (Sūpā Saiyajin Goddo Sūpā Saiyajin Shinka or "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Evolution").[1]

The footage was publicly uploaded to the "Dragon Ball Heroes Official Channel" on YouTube within the "Universe Mission 1: How To Play" video 07 March 2018.[2]

The official Dragon Ball Heroes website lists the form's name with an interpunct as 超サイヤ人ゴッドSS・進化 (Sūpā Saiyajin Goddo Sūpā Saiyajin・Shinka or "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan: Evolution").

In an interview entitled "The Artisans Who Made the Universe Survival Arc of Dragon Ball Super, Now Reaching Its Climax" posted 09 March 2018 to the Dragon Ball Official Site, a caption below a respective screen of Vegeta in the form likewise labeled it with the interpunct as 超サイヤ人ゴッド超サイヤ人・進化 (Sūpā Saiyajin Goddo Sūpā Saiyajin・Shinka or "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan: Evolution").[3]

Character designs from the Japanese Dragon Ball Super Box 11 set

The booklet which accompanies the eleventh (and final) Dragon Ball Super television series home video box set in Japan includes character designs, which label Vegeta's form as 超サイヤ人ブルー強化 (Sūpā Saiyajin Burū Kyōka or "Super Saiyan Blue Strengthening"). Beyond the name, the design notes focus on the eye, noting its highlights and shadows.[4]

In reference to Vegeta being added to Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2 in the form, the character's inclusion is noted as SSGSSベジータ(進化), adapted in the game's English localization as "Vegeta SSGSS Evolved".[5][6]

In the (15-second) television broadcast version of the Dragon Ball Super Episode 123 next-episode-preview attached to episode 122, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Evolution is not explicitly shown on-screen, but is alluded to in narration as Vegeta awakening to, "...an amazin' power even beyond Super Saiyan Blue!" Episode 122 also begins the run of OnePixcel's "LAGRIMA" as the series' ending theme song, which ends with a framing of Vegeta and Son Goku atop a group shot, each showing hints of on-going/forthcoming transformations.

Production

Responding to a fan on Twitter in August 2018, Dragon Ball Super television series director Megumi Ishitani addressed form's origin[8]:

Thank you for your questions. When writing this response, director [Ryōta] Nakamura looked over it too. I'm amazed and also extremely happy to see people continue to have so much interest even this long after it stopped airing!

Vegeta's evolved version of Blue is an anime-original. Like you said, that form is the result of him mastering his strength in a different way than Goku. Strength-wise please think of it as about the same as Goku's Blue Kaiō-Ken.

The following is merely my own personal opinion, but I think Vegeta would never call it quits on his own strength. Being as proud as he is, I doubt he would shut up while Goku has surpassed him with Ultra Instinct.
