Biggest inconsistency is that Krillin, Bulma and Roshi learn about Gohan's existence, before their proper introduction to him.

There's two distinct steps to what Goku and Gohan did in the Room of Spirit and Time.

1) Attain mastery of Super Saiyan.
2) Train together a lot.

Depends on the filler, I liked the fillers which serve as character building ones. Gohan's training in the wilderness help authenticate his development, and accentuating how different he is from Goku.

Best filler, Goku and Piccolo driving, nuff said.
