Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

You've rushed in to defend the character without even having either paid attention to or just haven't even read the series. So much for that basic writing huh? Did you just post a page of him explaining what he wants from an earlier chapter than the one I took a page from? A chapter where he's talk...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

But he's not mysterious. There's no mystery surrounding him at all. He wants to eat planets. That's the gimmick of the character. It's no deeper than that. https://i.imgur.com/HoXRE0L.jpg Wow, his plan is so not a mystery that Toyotaro just had him straight up tell you what his end goal is. Oh wait...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Not every villain needs to be relatable. Not every villain needs to be unrelatable. Not every villain needs to be explained. Not every villain needs to go unexplained. Not every villain needs to be succinct. Not every villain needs to be verbose. The world is big enough for your Emperor Palpatines a...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

words I'm pretty sure I did a decent job of explaining why Anime Jiren's character doesn't work. He spends too much time doing nothing, and when he does anything it's clear he's holding back for some unexplained reason. Anime Jiren is stronger than time, after all (whatever the heck that means). Ma...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

None of Toei's movie villains are good or hold even an iota of a candle to any character Toriyama created or wrote. Fuck, I'd even put most video game-original characters over Toei's movie villains. Demigra and Towa (as they are in Xenoverse 1 and 2; I don't pay attention to Heroes, nor do I care ab...

Personally I think Jiren is a lot worse than Moro. Just a boring overpowered character. There is nothing to him.
Anime Jiren, assuredly.

Manga Jiren is a character I very much like.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

There was no teamwork in that arc until like the very end. I'm not even going to humor that idea. I deal with this kind of rejection of reality on an almost daily basis interacting with alt-right bots. I don't need it in Dragonball too. Go re-read the arc. Every confrontation either features people...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I saw that people replied to me, but never really had the time to type up any kind of reply until now. Before I continue, I feel it's necessary to re-state that just because I'm arguing this point doesn't mean I feel as overwhelmingly strong about it as it may come off. Is this some new definition o...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

But I think an even better writer would've thought a way of making at least either Krillin or Tien somehow useful. I don't think that's necessarily a better writer. That would be a writer going out of his way to have his/the fans' favorites do something. Toriyama sidelined these characters back in ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

You guys are making me be a lot harsher on this topic than I actually feel or wanted to be, but oh well... Huh? So you're saying a character that is shamed after god knows how many years of inactivity is a good thing. No, it's not. As it wasn't good not showing Gohan fighting Kefla, Krillin being si...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Toyotaro has proven to be the only non-Toriyama writer who can make good dragonball (obviously not as good as Toriyama's, but close enough). We've seen what Toei's writers do, and it's always some variation of the typical bad Toei movie.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

No they have not and Vegeta's been stuck in the same character arc since Cell. When you make claims like these, you need to have actual substantial arguments follow them. Just the tournament of power by itself forced Goku to confront whether he'd been doing things wrong since Raditz arrived on Eart...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

It’s not even that I am saying the series is trash as it’s still mostly fun and just having it back makes me happy. In fact I think some of the critics against Super (manga and anime) are too harsh but certainly the series could be so much better than what it is. Sorry for that long rant Nah, I dis...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I have no strong feelings about the chapter one way or the other. The final 2 pages (but more so the final page) are more interesting and fun than the previous 40something. This shot right here, I love it so much. https://i.imgur.com/g8zyvbr.jpg So good to see Z-Warriors back in action again! Person...

Hey mods, get on this one.

Marlowe was good people and always had posts of merit, be they in textual analysis of the manga or explaining the institutionalized differences between how society treats men and women in the Vic Mcnognog thread. The community loses by not having him around.

Yes, Merus was about to use all his power because Goku would use it too, I wouldn't say Goku forced him into it, nor does that mean he is close to Merus level. Goku definitely got stronger regardless of UI, but I don't think it's at this level I actually think that's what we're supposed to take awa...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Nothing really happened, but enjoyable enough. Glad Toyotaro made it clear that Vegeta will get more from this than just a nondescript power boost. Goku, meanwhile, was beginning to transform before Whis came in; good foreshadowing. Merus is finally explained, though this mystery being built up for ...

With all due respect... you do realize you're posting in a thread about the manga, right?
