Old posts are a time capsule you can look back at and cringe. Or be amused by.
I have no cringe because I was already an adult by the time I joined this forum.

The second Gohan was shown to be more powerful than him, he started rationalizing and coping.PhantomSaiyan wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2026 3:37 pmCell was never insecure lol that's not what his character was at all, he also had 0 doubts that he was the bad guy, how is he an example of what you're talking about?![]()

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Being so delusional because you bury your insecurities and doubts that you’re the bad guy is a trait we’ve seen many times. Cell, for example. Or, in Super, Zamasu.
I get the appeal, but it’s just such the standard characterization you see in everything that I find it boring for the final ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
1. “He’s stronger than time” is a nonsensical tagline that someone came up with, and then they worked backwards to make that a plot beat. Hit’s time stop didn’t even work like that when he fought Goku. They made his technique work like it did in the manga to facilitate that moment. This was ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
It's super rushed though, fights end anticlimactically, sometimes off screen, not enough spectacle for a tournament of that size.
It ended up being super underwhealming
1. Fights ending abruptly and “anticlimactically” are strengths. Much ado was made about this being a battle royale. The ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I'm on the complete opposite side to you; I think the Moro arc is the one and only good arc to come out of Super so far. Champa was underwhelming, Zamasu was a train wreck, Jiren was all action and 0 substance, and Granola was just bad. Moro, despite its flaws, is an overall good arc; I can safely ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
The Moro arc is the start of the decline of the Super manga. It'd be very difficult for an adaptation being made almost a decade later to be as bad, or even worse. There is a lot of hindsight and weathervaning that can (and should) be employed to make it better.

Re: Could Dr. Gero have been inspired by Dr. Robotnik?
To add, Toriyama's modus operandi is to introduce an unassuming character with a more imposing one (Tenshinhan-Chaozu, Piccolo Daimao-Piano, Nappa-Vegeta, Dabura-Babidi). 20 would've been more imposing if Toriyama hadn't figured out that he wants him to be Gero, I would wager.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
The Super manga is canon to the original manga.
One would naturally think that, but there's also things in the super manga that contradict the original: notably piccolo having five fingers like in the anime instead of four, like toriyama alwas drew him, and then there's things like anime ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
On the topic of canon:
It's a meaningless term in media franchises that get this big and involve this many people and products.
"Canon to" is how you should think of it.
People on previous pages said Super is canon. But, like, which version of Super? That depends, doesn't it? The Super manga is ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
People tend to forget, that Superman was fantasy of two jewish immigrants, Siegel and Shuster, basically a power fantasy after centuries of oppression and pogroms
Superman's origin means nothing when Siegel and Shuster were penniless and basically begging for scraps before Neal Adams took up ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
...You're gonna have to explain this, because it's not obvious to me. As much as Goku looks like any race, he looks white as the driven snow. His status as an "immigrant", so to speak, is identical to Superman's. Goku has faced more trials and adversity in his life than Supes (simply by virtue of ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
He's from costa rica, so him being a dragonball mark is expected.
For what I think are very obvious reasons, Goku and the saiyans mean more to minority groups than Superman ever will.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
Maybe the fusion bugs were just a red herring for people to think fusion would have been the answer, but instead it was SS4. Or maybe Toriyama wanted to introduce the concept to use it in a future story.
It would be very funny if a later story arc in the Super manga just has goku rummage ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
I’m curious, aside from maybe the fusion bugs, what would you say went unexplained but was important?
Well, a few things.
What exactly is Super Saiyan 4? If Goku already knew how to do it, what did Neva actually do? If not, was he training to create some new form, but then Neva's intervention ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
The part of my brain that loves to neatly categorize things is displeased by this finale that leaves so many things unexplained.
But the much larger part of my brain that loves that it just ended so open-endedly is very pleased.

But I admit my criticisms of modern Vegeta's characterization are best applicable to the anime version. The manga in general does a good job with the character, though I also believe the underlying issue that he's still too combative and aggressive unnecessarily is also present.
The Super anime ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
I do like also Vegeta's characterization so far.
Vegeta’s character is often misunderstood as being just Goku and being a fight pervert.
That’s not Vegeta.
Goku is driven to be better tomorrow than he was yesterday. If Goku loses a fight, as long as he gave it his all, he’s okay. That’s not ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
What I said has everything to do with why Toriyama forgot SSJ2 but remembered 3, honestly you're just yapping.
Look at Neko Majin Z, all SSJ transformations have SSJ2 sparks, you can see in real time when Toriyama blended their designs and forgot what was supposed to make SSJ2 visually distinct ...

Re: Glorio
I think what irked me the most about his arc is that he only had one decently defined relationship in the whole show, with Panzy. What's his relationship with Goku like,
As someone who has not interacted with fans about Daima until this episode, I think his relationships with Panzy ...
