Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I'm keen for another Super manga arc because I do have quite a big curiosity on what a Toyotaro Super arc will look like with absolutely 0 Toriyama input. I don't have high hopes for it but I certainly want him to have a shot.
Sure, but I don't even think that would be the next arc, which was ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Resurrection F was underwhelming and hasn't aged very well, especially decade later.
I also wished they didn't used "Z" in title; I understand it is continuation of Z (ignoring GT), but I honestly that's one of the reason why I have an issue with movie. It doesn't ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I would love if Toyo brought SSJ4 back into Super but I would much, much prefer if it wasn't Gohan, Broly and ESPECIALLY not Goku & Vegeta who would get it. Give it to Goten and/or Trunks, the characters that unlike Gohan or Broly don't have their own iconic forms yet. Goku&Vegeta not getting it ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I still genuinely do not understand the reading that the series is promising a straight-played Black Freeza confrontation, at least in terms of all of Dragon Ball (and Super 's) prior content.
Should the series continue, he seems destined to be used as a measuring stick for a different antagonist ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I'm feeling pretty burnt out on Dragon Ball. I still have a love for the series, but honestly, I'm okay if we don't see anything new for a while. The return of Dragon Ball after 1997 was inevitable; a massive franchise like DB isn't just going to fade away, especially since other Shonen series ...

Re: Q & A with Torishima, Toyotarou and Nakatsuru at Japan Expo.
Yeah the Gohan thing is pretty clear IMO, Toriyama did fully 100% transition him into MC by the end of Cell/beginning of Buu. Hence Toei followed with new opening and promo material. The fact that then Tori made a 180 u-turn is a different thing (and the biggest mistake DB did IMO
)

Re: Should Daima get adapted into a manga ?
I feel like the ship has sunk on that, kinda too late and I find it absolutely hilarious that Shueisha didn't order a Daima manga despite having Naho Ooishi already working for them. Who is not only an expert DB artist but a chibi artist at the same time.
Absolute lol when it comes to managing this ...

Re: What's Canon ? We Finally Have an Answer
There's a word that I feel captures the essence of what fans mean when they say the word canon: authentic . A Dragon Ball continuation is more authentic when it feels like it establishes a proper foundation for the series to continue forward by revisiting its past developments and putting them on ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Yup. Especially as I feel that whatever happens post-EOZ should REALLY shake things up in a big way, cast-wise and villains-wise. Hence I don't want Freeza to be the forever dangling thread out there, creeping into post-EOZ period. Finishing it up prior to the OG ending seems fitting and at this ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Episode 131 feels conclusive enough for the anime, so it doesn't "need" to return. It might, and I would welcome it of course, but it certainly doesn't need to return. It feels complete enough as it is.
For the anime alone yes, but the animated side of Super didn't really end on that - it did go ...

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga
Similarly, there is absolutely nothing whimsical about Cell. Majin Buu is funny, he loves chocolate so he just wants to eat candies all day after he's killed all humans. Zamasu is funny, when he starts monologuing, people always punch him in the face, like a recurring cartoon gag. What is funny ...

It would also be fun to have both Von and Meri together on the podcast one day and discuss both Toei's whole DB revival era (and its future) and Sailor Moon Crystal in that context too, given how they (Mike too?) are fans of boths shows, same generation, yada yada. Maybe throw in Saint Seiya in the ...

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga
This franchise might be long-running, but 90% of Super material is way closer to the true spirit of Dragon Ball, which delights me and does put a smile on my face.
I'm very happy that Super is much closer to the original arcs of Dragon Ball and the Buu saga instead of that dark, edgy Cell saga ...

Re: Toei should animate DBS exclusive manga chapters
I feel they cancelled the show for a reason. They don't need an expensive animated show to sell merch.
I do feel that they could and should allow characters from the manga appear in games and such.
Not immediately, but they will eventually. Nothing last forever and just like in the 00s, the ...

Re: Which was the better sequel: GT, Super, or Daima ?
Ehhh IDK.... All 3 have major flaws and don't come close to the level of storytelling in the original manga and even Toei's own original creations (Bardock special). I guess Super but only because it had the time to develop the most good stuff versus much shorter GT and Daima. Plus it has my ...

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga
Less we forget the fun carefree adventures basically ended after Red Ribbon. The Cell saga certainly isn’t anymore serious or grim than any other post Red Ribbon arc.
Not by much but I do feel like it is the most serious and grimdark allaround. Heck, even the villain camp went outta the ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
The whole canon/contradictions debate is kinda whatever to me. I just think Toyo gave a politically-safe answer that on a deeper look simply makes no sense and he himself knows it. Everything being canon is an oxymoron in a franchise that literally retells the same things in a completly (not just a ...

Re: Official confirmation Toriyama wanted to end Dragonball at the Cell Saga
Why can't all Dragon Ball sagas just be fun, carefree adventures that don't take themselves too seriously?
Because Toriyama felt like turning his slaptsick gag manga into grimdark Terminator story.
Fans need to accept that this franchise, much like many other billion-dollar decades-spanning ...

Re: Why are we still stuck in the "10 years" period?
That's... rather sad when you put it that way.
With Present!Trunks you at least get some of his personality as an individual in the main series proper and GT gave him some spotlight as an adult and even before that he had Movie 13 that puts him more in the center with Tapion.
When I think of ...
