Re: Should the Super manga and anime divert into completely different stories now?
Bringing this back up now that the manga is still going. I honestly feel like the anime should do its own thing whenever it comes back. I mean we already know the next movie is unlikely to be Moro or the current arc anyway so already it's going to have a unique story in the middle there. But even if...

Re: Dragon Ball Z’s popularity in the West
It's the same reason Pokemon and Sailor Moon became popular in the west. All these shows came out at a time where anime was relatively unknown in the west and unlike any cartoons that were airing at the time. Even when I was a kid I knew Pokemon, Dragonball Z, and Sailor Moon, "weren't quite th...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
If this is real it feels like a jump the shark moment for the manga. Vegeta being a God of Destruction (or being groomed to become one) makes sense, but this transformation is awful. At this point I'm willing to say the manga is its own thing now. If the anime ever comes back they'll probably go in ...

Re: How would you feel about a (non live action) Dragon Ball reboot?
It would probably be awful for the simple reason that Vegeta and Piccolo would be "nice" from the start and all the sexual innuendo from the early eps would never fly today. No Goku checking to see if Bulma has a penis, none of Roshi's perverted antics, no Bulma pulling up her dress, etc. ...

Re: Anyone else find the RRA arc hard to rewatch?
I think the problem is most of it is a Goku-only story. Outside of the Blue arc where Krillin/Bulma are involved, the series let all the supporting characters be forgotten this series. Goku can't really bounce off the villains here and Android 8 is a very boring character personality wise, so there ...

Re: What is the General Consensus on the Moro Arc?
Moro would likely get some fans if we ever get an anime adaption. Again outside of hardcore fans, most people do not read he Super manga so a lot of people have no idea who Moro even is. To most people, Super ended with the Tournament of Power followed by the Broly movie and has been on hiatus ever ...

Re: Anyone else find the RRA arc hard to rewatch?
Well this arc has many parts so if you take it at each individual segment: - Silver arc drags after Pilaf is out of the picture, and thankfully it's not too long - Muscle Tower is fun, but some of the earlier eps could have been combined. Goku spends one whole episode on each floor fighting Major Me...

In retrospect, is kid 4-6 year old Gohan being beaten up so badly kinda cruel?
Despite Goku being a kid in Dragonball, he's still 12 years old when we first meet him and a teen shortly after, so even though he and Krillin were drawn "pint-sized" you knew they were older. Kid Gohan is 4-6 at the beginning of the series. He's brutally beaten up by Vegeta in the Saiyan ...

Re: Which character do you think is wasted in DBS
And if they don't want kids fighting, it's mind blowing they don't age them up especially since they're SUPPOSED to be older at this point and they haven't grown an inch since the Boo arc. One of the reason I want an arc in EOZ is because with Trunks/Goten as adults there's a chance they can actuall...

Re: Which character do you think is wasted in DBS
Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu. They're all handled fine though? There's not much for them to do anymore but they made use of them. Chiaotzu was already jettisoned from relevance after the Saiyan saga anyway. The human cast was retired in the Boo arc so they've gotten arguably more screentime ...

Assuming this thread is about clip shows, people hate clip shows even more than fillers.

Re: Which character do you think is wasted in DBS
The only real answer here is Trunks and Goten. Toriyama excluding them from EVERY fight and arc in Super was absurd.
Every other character did things at some point (sans Yamcha), but Trunks and Goten are purposely excluded from the action. It's them by a large margin.

Re: "Live Action Dragon Ball Z Movie"
I strongly disagree that it is the definitive take on the characters. In animation possibly, but not anywhere else. The comic books taking cues from the DCAU was never a good thing. And Mister Freeze is a silly and mediocre villain no matter what. Seriously, his name is "Mr. Freeze". I me...

Re: "Live Action Dragon Ball Z Movie"
I respect Batman TAS for its overall quality and what it did for television animation, but it's overrated, and definitely not what I think of when I hear "Batman". It's a fun and very well-made version of Batman for children's television, at least in its original incarnation. The later ye...

Re: does dragonball have a definitive canon
Originally there was just manga canon and anime canon. Manga: Toriyama's manga from the beginning to end Anime: Dragonball, DBZ (including all fillers), and you can or not count GT. Movies: The 13 movies are basically all in their own canon The videogames have always had what if stories since the be...

Re: Is Bulma's hair supposed to be blue, purple, or green?
I sometimes wonder if it's the poor video/visual quality that makes people not able to distinguish Bulma's hair as either blue or green in old Dragonball and DBZ episodes. That's why it's a mandela effect of her always having blue hair like Super, we're looking at poor visual quality of the episodes...

Re: How is Broly in his BASE form stronger than Super Saiyan Blue?
Also this is on top of the fact that Broly was likely never in a real fight before this either, so that doesn't make sense. There's no reason mortals should be stronger than God's. Even at Boo's level is kind of insane due to him being the strongest being Universe 7 ever saw.

How is Broly in his BASE form stronger than Super Saiyan Blue?
So this is something I never got. Broly in in the new movie, in his BASE form before he even became Super Saiyan, was fighting toe to toe with Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta. No matter how much a "prodigy" Broly is, how can he be stronger than Gods in his base form? It just completely d...

Re: Is Bulma's hair supposed to be blue, purple, or green?
I assumed Trunks hair was purple because Bulma's blueish hair mixing with Vegeta's black hair saiyan genes made purple hair through their son. That's also why Trunks doesn't have Saiyan hair like Gohan/Goten for that matter.

Re: What is the General Consensus on the Moro Arc?
Didn't this arc get a lot of hate for being too much of a retread of the Cell arc with Namek being rehashed again as well? I remember when the issues were coming out people kept saying, "there's nothing new" happening and that they were just retreading old story beats.
