Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
Exactly. Such a simple explanation.
Logically-speaking SSJ4 is fodder to Beerus, so it absolutely isn't a deal-breaker that Goku didn't use it. Absolutely nothing would have changed in the story, it would only have prolonged Goku's suffering for a few minutes.
Daima would only contradict ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
Guys, is the canon discussion even necessary?
Think about it, if Beerus "flicked" Super Saiyan 3 Goku, then obviously Goku figured out that Super Saiyan 4 would not be effective at all. So, the God forms basically made SSJ4 obsolete, and not needed to be mentioned ever again. From there, Super ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
Does anyone else feel like the final fight wasn't quite as good as the previous few? To be clear, it was still really entertaining and quite impressive animation wise, but it just felt like something was missing. It seemed just a bit...unfocused, a bit "scattershot". Like something with the ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 20 - Official Discussion Thread
Seeing a lot of discourse online already about how this was "terrible" and "completely ruined the show". Can someone explain why? I'm not a fan of this show overall, but this episode did not stand out as being particularly bad or "ruining" anything. I'd even dare to say it was actually one of the ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
You can have a mostly silent character, but typically in fiction, good silent characters avoid becoming boring by making sure that anytime they DO open their mouth, it's impactful. Clever writers are able to pack a lot of information about a silent-type character into few words.
I would ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
While you're correct about Granolah, Glorio has basically the opposite problem. He has essentially no character or backstory that is then followed up with a totally unearned and bizarrely emotional character arc climax.
Look, man, you don't have to like Glorio as a character. I know there's ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
Granolah had a clearly defined backstory
Having some detailed backstory means nothing if it isn't followed up on. Granolah's supposed heel turn at the end of his arc is completely offscreened and unearned, and the writing does absolute fuck all with him as a character after Gas shows up ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
Once again, absolutely stunning visuals backed up by a completely vapid and empty script and story.
The issue I have with the story is that they rush through the important plot points, like Glorio's arc, but for some reason spend an eternity on shit like walking, the ship breaking down ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 19 - Official Discussion Thread
Once again, absolutely stunning visuals backed up by a completely vapid and empty script and story. Gomah is absolutely by FAR the worst villain in any non-movie Dragon Ball product. Just absolutely nothing going on with him at all. It also really does hurt these cool fight scenes that he takes ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
And before that, long before that, people were complaining that Majin Buu barely had any character compared to Freeza and Cell, and SSJ3 and Fusion kind of came out of nowhere.
A tale as old as this fandom.
There were even people back in the day claiming it should have been Goku to ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
But I feel that's missing the point. It's treating storytelling as this strictly quantifiable formula: Put one unit of setup in, get one unit of transformation out. It feels like power scaling for storytelling, a type of Cinema Sins-esque warding off of plot holes. If we can fashion a logical ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 18 - Official Discussion Thread
No episode of this show has made me more depressed, not because this is the worst episode or anything. But because it once again just drills into my head how wasted all of this phenomenal production value is. The story and writing is just not carrying its weight. So many talented animators ...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 6 - Official Discussion Thread
Been away from the forum/fandom for a while now, so I really don't have any idea how the general community is responding to Daima so far, but just wanted to drop this here and see if I'm on an island or if there is some consensus that can be found on this.
To put it bluntly, I just think this show ...

Come 2021 if we still have no DBS then what? What's the excuse gonna be then?
Bottom line the only official words we have had are about movies, we should treat this whole DBS 2.0 as a myth ...

3. If it was just preproduction then why was Ajay's predicted announcement date (May 5th) two months before the air date and why was the second anticipated date even closer to July? Keep in mind, Ajay even went to his sources and asked again and they reconfirmed Goku day.
How many times ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
Looks like I am getting the last laugh as the so called sources were really bullshit...
It has been months and nobody presented anything, no announcements, just wet dreams.
At least, we can look forward to a potential movie in future :)
Anything else showed up?
Is this really the level of ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
there is no Super series in development, end of the story.
Officially there isn't. But it's a badly kept secret that Super's been worked in for a while. Like the case with Kai Final chapters was.
How? What? Where? We don't have any proof outside of a movie... There is just Broly genga ...

Oh god this is still going on? I have no doubt something will be 'shown' in SDCC but I highly doubt it's an anime. If the reports are right that Toei is working on something since October and in December Toriyama mentioned his 'next work' which with this recent interview makes it clear it's a ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
Anyways, no doubt peeps here are gonna bash Ajay, Geek, and Yonkou if 2uper aint out by July so there is no use trying to defend against that.
But here’s a plausible reason as to why 2uper hasn’t been announced and yet inside sources have been giving info of 2uper coming this July:
https ...
