Re: At its core, why is Dragon Ball so loved?
It's the delicate combination of a lot of things , the balance of drama/comedy, world building, likable characters, unique Toriyama designs, and the over the top battles. No other show really has everything like Dragon Ball, except maybe it's successor (in my mind) One Piece. Which in some ways ...

Re: Anyone surprised the original run of Dragon Ball/DBZ/GT only lasted about 10 years?
Only 10 years? That's a long time. It ended at the right time also..until Toei saw dollar signs and decided to pump out the soulless modern mediocrity we have now. I really think GT was a solid last breath for the franchise and was clearly a sign that the franchise had exhausted its potential. God ...

The so called "piling" was more so towards the OP. His statements have been very strange and ignorant.Cure Dragon 255 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 11:38 pm
I meant that to defend you. People are piling on you and I felt that was unfair. I meant to be on your side. I think people are really unfair to Falconer fans.

Re: English version with cool music???
Every time someone pulls the ol “Faulconer music fits Z better because Z is Sci-fi” I die on the inside. How hard is to just say “I like this music better” or “This is what I grew up with so this is how I prefer it” no need to justify with some bs logic that a completely clueless company that ...

Re: English version with cool music???
Where can I check out those different versions legally? I saw some DVDs in the original DBZ web site, but is it not possible to buy the digital version of it? BLUrays and dvds are so old
Not really sure what "other" versions you are referring to. He was saying you should give Kikuchi (the ...

Re: Are there other shonen you acknowledge as better written than Dragon Ball?
I'm sure it's been stated dozens of times in this thread, but One Piece is absolutely better written than DB. I feel like it takes all the things I like about DB and builds upon them. I guess when it comes to the Anime's pacing(I'm 700 eps in) its probably the absolute slowest long shonen. Every arc ...

Perfect is not a word I would use to describe this set. It's a mediocre set at best. Will happily stick with the Dragon Boxes over these.Kingbrockstar1995 wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 12:08 am

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I find it interesting how the extremely vocal disdain for the 30th on this forum has suddenly shifted into acceptance and apathy. I guess Funimation has finally broken the will of the hardcores.

Weird. I dont agree about GT at all. It feels very much like Dragon Ball to me. Especially Toei's version of what Dragon Ball is.ABED wrote: Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:03 pm GT bares little resemblence to the tone and feel of Dragon Ball. It's a bland approximation. Super is like every other series revival, a shell of its former self.

Re: Super or GT poll
For me, the Dragon Ball story ended with GT. Everything else has just been bonus content for me.
GT just feels more like a natural continuation of the Z anime. I just wish it had gone on for as long as Super did.
Super feels like a standalone corporate product. It has some fun fights, but ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
Honestly if I hadn't been spoiled by the Level sets and Dragon Boxes I would think these looked amazing. Alas, I can't look past the awful DVNR. To me its far too distracting to enjoy these despite the okay packaging. I have the same problem with the Green Bricks, and to an extent the Blue bricks ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
They're pretty expensive.. $60 MSRP x 9 is $540. Even if you got em all half off, you're still paying $270, at that rate, you'd have still been better off buying the 30th set since you can sell the extras for a pretty penny.
But the steelbooks are way better looking and safer for your discs ...
