Re: Has Super's reputation softened or hardened since it ended?

Not if GT still exist. At least Piccolo was useful in GT. Sorry, wha-? :eh: Piccolo essentially shows up for one arc in GT and unceremoniously dies without any real build-up. At least in Super he gets to: train Gohan back to full power, compete in both tournament arcs, defend Earth from both Freeza...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

It's like Toriyama forgot that it was meant to be a battle manga at points. It seems he just couldn't think of new ways to make them interesting so just didn't bother for the most part. When the Buu arc started he was drawing weekly manga 13 years straight, and despite the Buu arc being rushed, it ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Out of all the storylines, I think the Buu arc perhaps benefitted the most from the animated adaptation. Sooo much good stuff gets outright wasted or barely utilised in the manga version, plus the overall art quality is far superior in Toei's version. Toriyama's art was starting to get hideously an...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

For all its faults, the anime Buu arc might just be the funniest in the whole franchise. Gohan snapping the Z-Sword, Goku and Vegeta's antics inside Super Buu's body, Piccolo's over-the-top reactions to everything... Early Dragon Ball may have a (totally unfair) reputation as the "optional comedic p...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Also, I said I wouldn't comment on previews, but Goku's reaction to Moro's assault should tell you that he wasn't actually anticipating him to reform. He's just giving Moro a free choice that he wouldn't otherwise have in his battered, defeated state. Just food for thought. It's certainly more Goku...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I'll be honest, I don't believe Toriyama's passed his prime. I just don't believe he has as much passion or personal involvement as he either did back in the day, or should now. If we look at the current material, Battle of Gods & Super: Broly were great DB films. In my opinion, the best of them. B...

Re: Most overused Dragon Ball truisms?

I hardly see people bring up “umm excuse me sir FUNimation's English dub is inaccurate” as an irrelevant-to-the-topic-being-discussed statement compared to the extreme ubiquity of completely unnecessary "btw GT isn't a cannon" insertions. (I think certain people *just don’t like being reminded of t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

For all the talk of wanting Moro to die already, would Goku executing him on the spot while he's begging and helpless really be a satisfying Dragon Ball fight conclusion? Especially for a full chapter, from a big cliffhanger? I mean, maybe if you're so inclined to just hate Moro, but most Dragon Bal...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

The funny thing is I hated that moment at the End of Z. After not seeing everyone for 5 years apparently they have Goku go off again in the end That’s one of those things I’d welcome a retcon of. And they are almost at that point if not past the 5 year gap. It’s even a retcon that can be easily exp...

Re: Was Future Trunks: Super Saiyan God a missed opportunity?

In a sense, yeah, it would have been the most logical way to keep him relevant and in hindsight it's rather baffling that they never thought of it. Simply get Goku, Vegeta, Present Trunks, Goten and either Gohan or Pan (considering that Trunks purposefully keeps Gohan out of the loop, probably Pan) ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I've just seen this rather compelling theory that this act of callousness is what causes the apparent awkward schism between Goku and his friends that caused him to cut off contact with them for years by EoZ. Everyone except for Chi-Chi and Goten collectively decide to just turn their backs on him ...

Re: Most overused Dragon Ball truisms?

GT (or anything besides the original manga) is non canon. Yeah, it is baffling that people still say this like it's some grand revelation. Its unfortunate but it does need clarifying more often then not. Some people adamantly insist that GT is canon and i think people are more tired about having to...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I think we might see Goku continue to lecture Moro, something about, "I had you at my mercy, but instead of destroying you, I showed you exactly that, mercy. That's the difference between me and you," that kind of thing. I'm not sure Goku wants to (or even believes he can) redeem Moro at this point...

GT (or anything besides the original manga) is non canon. Yeah, it is baffling that people still say this like it's some grand revelation. Here's another one (if this offends anyone it describes, I preemptively apologise), but the propping up of Battle of Gods as a flawless gem in the rough that is...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Because no matter what happens Goku giving Moro the Senzu is still disappointing writing. There is nothing good that can come from it. And I say this whether Moro somehow escapes from Goku or Goku beats the hell out of him again. Neither option will make this development better for me. I think it's...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I imagine Krillin is saying something like "why the fuck have I let this happen again!?" The image of him on the cliffside in the distance with his head in his hands made me laugh. I hate having these drafts released because they just stir shit up and cause everyone to overreact. Not that peop...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Krillin and Jaco don't exactly look too pleased with Goku in this moment either. He's still going to get away with it, at least his nonsense with Cell literally blew up in his face. Goku giving Cell the senzu wasn't the biggest blunder in that case. It was one stupid tactical move amongst a whole s...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Goku didn't pay for his mistake with Cell, he paid for Gohan's mistake with Cell and the only reason why that happened was because Goku said it was going to. Goku shouldn't have given Cell a Senzu, nor should he have thrown Gohan in the ring unprepared. Those were massive mistakes that he was calle...

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread

How would you guys feel about characters from other video games showing up? If you had to choose one, who would it be? I'd probably choose Hearts from Heroes , his gravitational powers would certainly be interesting to see in this game. Cumber, Oren, Kamin and Lagss could act as assist characters G...
