Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

Fuck YES, I finally received my Dragon Box 4 in the mail today. I don't live in the US and no shipping method other than Standard was available for me, so it took almost a month to arrive. Anyway I'm so glad now I FINALLY have it in my hands beyond all certainty. :D I bought it from a seller called ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 (1-5) DVD set at RightStuf!

Yes, I meant bought. :P My English is amateur so here and there I commit those kinds of mistakes... :)

Well, then I can only hope some official information about this box will be disclosed near the announcement of the 7th Z TV series box, as promised...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Movie Pack 1 (1-5) DVD set at RightStuf!

I guess the real question is: if they bought the masters, would they not release them? I mean, would it make sense? Has it ever happened before? If they actually bought the thing, would they still go and not release in any form or shape? That seems intuitively to be a waste of money to me, a route ...

Re: Dragon Box Z Volume Six Discussion

Yes. I counted 250-210 and the result is 40, so that's how I reached my conclusion. :P (so I am supposing every box since 3 is 41 episodes...)

OTOH, this is good, because the fact that they lessen the episodes in the last discs of those volumes makes for more appropriate disc art. I noticed that ...

Re: Dragon Box Z Volume Six Discussion

How many boxes have only 40 episodes like this one?

Also, should they really put on the back paper that the Dragon Box has ''over 40'' episodes when actually some of the volumes aren't like that?

Not that it bothers me, of course. I am just commenting. :)

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

Well, it was DBox 2 (one of the last copies directly from Amazon.com, I believe :D ). Since I chose Standard International (because courier is too costly and Expedited is essentially the same only slightly pricier), it came just past week (I ordered it in July). :P

Re: 'Marathon' mode on US DBoxes

Alright, thanks for the answers (except for the first one, which clearly missed the point of the topic :P) and discussion. (althought I do wonder if the original JP boxes used this ''seamless branching''...?)

BTW, this is an old question of mine, but it popped again in my head while watching the 4h or 5th disc of my recently-acquired DBox 6. :P

'Marathon' mode on US DBoxes

I heard that the 'Story Mode' on the original Japanese boxes was replaced by the 'Subtitles' menu on the US ones. Supposedly they had to make room for that option and so something was cut. Well, if that's the case, then why they simply added one more episode into the 'select episodes' menu on the ...

Re: Dragon Box Color?

No. Grain is part of the image. It's just how film works. Grain holds detail. Wiping grain means wiping detail. There's no way around it at this point.

That's what I thought after seeing what FUNimation did to the series in their season sets, but Kai uses the old footage and it doesn't really ...

Th DVD releases of Kai are uncensored/uncut, altought they have a lot of censorship compared to the equivalent Z footage. Still doesn't contain ridiculous censors like this one in the image. :P

Now I just don't think they will release those at all. :(
This thread is about "how" they should be released, not "whether or not" they're going to get released.

@Moderators: Sorry for mini-modding.

Well, his question was (paraphrasing) ''How do you think FUNimation will release the DB/GT ...

Re: Dragon Box Color?

I think they cleaned the film but left the colors as-is. Fist of the North Star got a similar remaster originally, but they did some color touch-ups with the latest release of it (which is thankfully what Diskotek got when they decided to license FotNS.)

Does that release gets rid of the film ...

Hm, just wanted to thanks Kaboom and Pokewhiz7 for their replies (especially the former since he warned me of the existence of the ''topics only'' option, which I was previously unware of, it seems  ).

Re: Fused voices for fused characters?

I personally never had a problem with it. It does sound annoying sometimes though (especially Vegetto's cocky voice :P), in dubbed versions at least (I'm know for one the Brazilian version that I grew up with can be terrifyingly annoying in this aspect at times ). Never seen the original.

''Orange Bricks'' discussion topics?

I was wondering if there are, buried away down on this forum, discussion topics about the 'good 'old' Orange Bricks (yes, I'm aware I probably used the wrong expression to describe them  ). You know, like the topics that are up every time once a US DBox is released, but only that for the ...

Yes, we did. A while ago actually (I think this particular DVD was launched in 2009/2010...?). However, it was 'cancelled' (braziliancoughversionoftheUUCcough ...
