Uses DVDs.

The previous ps2 games were only single layer (4.7gb), if they use dual layer dvds, they should still have plenty of room. But the large ambount of the (HD?) video on this game might chew that space up.

Re: HD Remakes of DBZ Games

If you have a decent computer, you can run the older ps2 and gamecube/wii titles in 1080p.

Use PCSX2 for playstation2 and Dolphin for gamecube/wii. Results can be ok to very very impressive.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

I hope the Goku riding on Kintoun in the centre of the spread, is the actual player model and not just "mag art", that style of texturing looks fantastic!

Re: Earth's Special Forces

Definetely from the ground up, they have a higher polycount for one. Also these guys have been doing this mod for nearly 10 years and I think by now they've got the skills to make models of that caliber from scratch. Second, both the ESF and ZEQ2 teams actively discourage ripping commercial models ...

Re: Earth's Special Forces

Haha, I was going to post that, but you got here first, good stuff. Awesome work from GodGundam and Enix.

I love the clever scripting the team have done, it greatly reduces the wonky defomation, that the old quake1/halflife .mdl format suffers from.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

The aura's do look nice, and the raising of Ki effect when they stand on the ground looks really tight. Tiny little rocks are rising up into the air and if you look closely the energy seems to roll aross the ground in waves going really quite far from the characters. It gives a bigger sense of scale ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

Someone made a comment about trying to make games in 2011? This is something off topic but also kinda relevant.

For better or worse, a large portion of up comming games will have shorter dev cycles, the reason? The mobile game market.

Spike kinda seem to have a 1 year dev cycle routine, this is ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

I think you misunderstood my meaning of budget, I should have said something like "resources". By that I mean amount of polygons on screen at once, sounds, animations, AI and physics.

The 6 year old machines processing and memory can only do all of that at once, to a certain level. SoulCalibur and ...

"The armor would have to be a fully function model, seperate from Gohan. They already use different player models for each costume(and transformation). If anything this might HELP them with the lazyness. They could rig one Gohan model then have each of the outfits have there own functions and ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

From the amount of reused animation, Spikes games definetely seem to be at least partialy skeletal based, the armour is definetly just a "block" thats attached to the main model with a different set of textures. From my understanding you can't have a seperate model thats just attached and animate ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

Ok I guess when all agree (sorta) on clipping. The extact same models as 2005? No.

Based on same original development art asset? Probably yes.

Same as RB & RB2 with a new lick of paint? quite obiviously.

Strange thing is no ones really mentioning much about how the new controls work etc... That ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

You're either lying to yourself or only play anime games if you think clipping errors are that common in every game, more-so if said clipping errors are the character's own model clipping into itself during an animation. Plenty of games avoid having clothing or hair clipping through the character ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

Two things I've seen and don't like in the videos so far, the slow/weird way the guy getting hit spins (too slow?) when getting knocked from QTE to the next QTE. And the position on the map that the characters are in during QTE, is different to the position they are in during normal gameplay. It's ...

http://www.daizex.com/misc_stuff/ultimate_tenkaichi_model_issues.jpg

Look at the clipping in the character outfit with the shoulder cutting through the armor. This has been happening for years, and it's because they're still using the same basic models and animations they created back in 2005 ...

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio

Besides character content, did any of those people who had hands on play, actually discuss/describe more important things? like gameplay and the new control setup? All I've read is it's different and is kinda based on Sparking/Tenkaichi controls.

Re: Dragonball: Project Age - PS360 - First Scan [6/5/2011]

Well I'm betting it's either gonna have stereoscopic 3D or Kinect/Move support, something like that would be new for a ps3/360 game.
It would also be fairly likely to be the "feel like your really there" part they are emphasising.
