Re: Looks like Japan have finally ditched the Son "Gokou" spelling!

I guess Funimation's version is the official English-speaking release and if they'll spell the names in English, they want to use the official spelling. I sincerely doubt this, but could the names have been a Toei demand from the start? It is harder for Katakana to be more creative with spelling and...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

I like the music and visuals, but the controls are hard to get into. At least for me. I am having a tough time getting used to the combat system. I didn't even get to the Raditz fight yet, so we'll see.

Yeah, the censorship sucks. BUT, having these is a great way to document the different releases. Always thinking of the bright side lol

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I'll never understand the love for Kelamis. he's a lousy actor as Goku. I've seen his live action work and he's fine as a day player, but he tries WAY too hard as Son Goku. The one thing I'll give him that he has over Corlette, he has more energy in his delivery which Goku needs. I kinda agree. It'...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this spliced version of the Ocean dub together with the Funimation version that's been overlayed on the Dragon Box. Hm I wonder where that came from ;) I don't know, but whoever was responsible for that deserved immense public praise as the GOAT. Seriously. I'd like...

Re: Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this spliced version of the Ocean dub together with the Funimation version that's been overlayed on the Dragon Box. Overall, I love watching the Westwood dub -- flaws and all. Yeah, the music thing sucks and yeah, delivery is wonky, but I still get a kick out of it. ...

Personal Thoughts on the Ocean Dub

Hey, everyone. So, I've always been a huge fan of the Ocean dub. Yes, it was the first Dragon Ball Z dub I've been exposed to and yes, I live in the US, so the body of work that the Ocean crew did for the series was heavily overtaken by Funimation's in-house cast. In fact, I didn't even know that th...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I for the love of god cannot get blurays to play on VLC for some reason, even just playing the M2TS files I find that it only works if you have some kind of decryption software. Call me naive -- and I'm not saying that this theory isn't correct, because I'm more than sure that everyone knows what t...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

Is that somehow different than how Dragon Ball Super or any other anime airs in Japan? I do find that once a week is too little, especially since the episodes last just shy over 20 minutes in total and every episode was just passing time until the next episode. The totality of the Dragon Ball series...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I hope they know what they bought. Think a lot of people just wanted A 4:3 release of DBZ, not specifically THE BEST 4:3 release possible. Those are the fans this set panders to. Unfortunate thing is that in a few years we will get another "definitive" release that is "less terrible" than this one ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

So apparently in addition to scalping some sellers on eBay are trying to pass this set off as a "Dragon Box". Could imagine someone scrolling past it and thinking yeah right  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dragon-Ball-Z-30th-Anniversary-Collector-s-Edition-Blu-Ray-Set-RARE-Dragon-Box/323993871617...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

If the 30th Anniversary footage was repackaged and released or put up for streaming, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of paying the $350 for it? Wouldn't they run the risk of pissing off the (relatively) few fans that actually spent money on these things?

Re: Dragon Ball Full Color Manga

Damn. At this rate, it would be quicker for me -- despite having about an hour a day to do this -- to scan the Japanese color manga in, scan in Viz's manga, and copy and paste every piece of dialog onto the Japanese manga for myself to have a nice digital version. Now, I'd bet it already exists, but...

Re: Would Level Sets be more sucessfull if Funimation wait more?

Isn't Steve Franko the guy who did the orange bricks and told us how amazing they were in the first place? Why would that guy's name be involved in anything that we'd want?

I'm totally serious when I say that I feel like we've gotten as good as we're ever going to get with this series.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I honestly don't trust Toei to release something better, to be completely honest. I don't trust them to release anything at all. If they did, I'd expect censorship (goodbye middle fingers), but that's a small thing. I didn't spend any time with their movie Blu-rays since I got them, but isn't Toei r...

Re: Would Level Sets be more sucessfull if Funimation wait more?

I think that the Level Sets would be immensely successful if they came out the way the Season Set Blu-rays did. I know what my biggest reservation was: "Ugh, about a dozen episodes per set?" The series having so many episodes made it feel like it would take forever to collect them and also made me f...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I'll be honest with you -- I think I continue to get all of Funimation's releases for the sole purpose of doing comparisons (mostly for myself, but if others like it, then I'm happy). To be completely honest, I watched about three arcs of the singles, the first orange brick, and the US Dragon Box al...

Oh god not 60+ png files on the same page, rip mobile data users, this is costly I mean they're all in spoilers, so I don't know how that affects your mobile data. Just don't open it. Unless it still somehow loads the images without opening up the spoiler tabs, in which case... sorry. Don't get me ...
