Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai\Vor
One thing's for certain, CW may demand the edits but it's clear 4-kids was doing the actual edits when they were still around. Ever since Vortex took over, the editing seems to have gotten much better in quality.

Does anyone know how they handled the guns the cops were holding when they pulled over the androids? The last time I actually watched, they were already up to Vegeta fighting Semi-Perfect Cell.

Re: DragonBall Z Kai TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai\Vor
They cut out the entire scene where Cell absorbs 'the richest man in Gingertown'. He just thanks Piccolo and then he suddenly disappears in the shot immediately after with no explanation at all.

Re: Is the "Never Say Die" thing truly needed?
I guess its like Nintendo in the 80/90's.
I don't think that's accurate, Nintendo never really got to the point of forcing other companies to censor death. Wolfenstein 3D still had you murdering people with guns, just English speaking generic soldiers without any blood involved and there ...

Re: Worst Toonzai edits
The Australian Kai edits are an f-word joke and even makes Toonzai edits look decent.
Anyone seen Dr. Brief smoking a fag and then they had a little blur over it?

Wasn't Saban telling them to do it, though? They blamed the FCC but then later admitted they were forced to edit it beyond what the FCC would've required.Vegeta1056 wrote: Also you guys do know FUNimation did the editing and not Saban right? XD

Re: DragonBall Z Kai - TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai)
Well, not yet. That's is how it will probably turn out, but this ANN article says that other companies could still technically get the rights to the "Yu-Gi-Oh" series. As I mentioned earlier, I think this is anything but good news. A few years ago, 4Kids started posting professionally-subtitled ...

Re: DragonBall Z Kai - TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai)
Saban now owns the CW4Kids/Toonzai block, and all of 4Kids assets. I don't know how important this could be to the block, or if it will affect DBZKai but we'll see where the show goes from there. I personally feel that it could be good news, but again lets wait and see.

Re: DragonBall Z Kai - TV Network Version (CW4Kids\Toonzai)
Some of the new animated scenes in Kai still make me wonder if they were done in MS Paint or not, it just looks so.. Unfitting and inconsistent with the next up animation (original).
Nah, that would require them to do it from scratch. More likely, they fired up Photoshop and just used the ...

Re: Kai marketing sold idea that Z series is a flawed series
How about the dialogue where he said he had hoped to toy with Krillin a bit longer? Not to mention, he hadn't shown to be quick on the kill. He was beating Gohan then stepping on his head while taking his sweet time. Later on, he was blasting Piccolo with miniature beams just to make him suffer ...

Re: Kai marketing sold idea that Z series is a flawed series
Personally, it goes against Freeza's characterization for me. He's always short, sweet (lol), and to the point, unless you have something he wants.
Well, he seemed to be just torturing his targets up to that point, like the Namekian village and Nail. Besides, Frieza stated in the Kai dub that he ...

Re: Kai marketing sold idea that Z series is a flawed series
One filler I sort of wish they kept was Frieza torturing Krillin at the end of his horn. You could argue it may have dragged the scene on a bit long but it enhanced the heartless monster vibe.

Re: Dialogue Comparisons: FUNimation Z vs. Z Kai (Uncut)
Exactly. The FCC doesn't even regulate basic cable, so it was up to the business standards and practices of Cartoon Network and Funimation itself to decide what to "censor" and what not.
Apparently, Funimation over censored even on the Toonami version, replacing death threats with subtleness ...

Re: Dialogue Comparisons: FUNimation Z vs. Z Kai (Uncut)
EDIT: Yes, the Funi dub is ancient and negated by the Kai dub's existing, just driving home my personal beef that the FCC is not a crutch for intentionally bad writing- what with Kai dub's showing me how little visual edits actually matter (I barely noticed, no immersion lost at all) when the ...

Probably because they only remember the uncut dvd and forgot all about edits made to the Toonami version.

Re: Was Nicktoons the best fit for Kai to air in hindsight?
Tell that to Funimation. I'm starting to think Nicktoons doesn't even have a problem with red blood so long as it isn't moving because I distinctly saw red blood on Vegeta's wounds when Baby infected them on GT, on Nicktoons and Y7 rated. Thanks to that overcensor, people now think Dragonball Kai ...
