My holy trinity is DBZ Movies 1-3 with the Canadian cast.

My big three DB anime are Dragon Ball, DBZ, and Daima.

Super is fine, but I like Daima more.

I mostly just say "Cooler."

I'd never heard of Kewler.

The franchise also prints money because most people in North America are cool with the widely available 16:9 Blu-ray.

I don't think the demand for a perfect release is big enough from a business standpoint.

It'd be cool if I were wrong, though.

Dragon Ball is so well-known that I generally run into two kinds of people: people who watched it a long time ago and people who know something about it anyway. Yeah, and its single DVD releases were what I would see in video rental stores in Japan back in 2019.

This is indeed a holdover from FunimationNow, fans first noticed it in early 2022 . At the time there were no NEPs but it's good they added them, means anyone that wants the authentic Japanese experience they can get it.

Episodes 1-74 (and any others not mentioned below) are Dragon Box.

Episodes 75, 80, 82, 92, 99, 105-106, 142, 157, 159, 161, 168-169, 172, & 178 are 16:9 Orange Bricks DVD squished to 4:3

Episodes 254-291 are 4:3 Dragon Box stretched to 16:9

My issue is that DB tends to have a very limited, reductive view of strength as something that can be objectively quantified.

It's usually fun when the villain has a strange ability that adds challenge, but I'd rather our protagonists mainly stick to incredibly exaggerated divine Kung Fu abilities like what they're already known for.
