x265 isn't suitable for grainy 480p material. You absolutely aren't going to see any tangible benefit in size without dramatic compromises to the video.

It's designed for clean, higher-resolution video, so when it sees film grain at low res it registers it as noise and tries to smooth it out ...

To be honest, frame counts are a bit meaningless. It's usually the cut number that's relevant in anime production. If you counted those, that'd be easier and more meaningful as far as industry standards go.

Those screenshots are screaming Selecta Vision so I'm not convinced there's anything meaningfully different here, and to be honest, even if there is a slight difference, these shots look terrible so it's a bit of a wash anyway.

It actually already exists. Go to your user control panel > board preferences and you'll see a "my board style" section. Change that to Kanzenshuu Dark and you'll have yourself dark mode!

Yeah, they are very clunky and awkward. I wish Toei would stop doing these in-house. It sucks to have to wait for the home release for better translations.

Battle of Gods through Broly would require recompositing otherwise they'll just be upscales from a lower resolution. All their project compositions are 1080p and lower. It's a lot of work to redo all that. Khara did it for their Evangelion Rebuild movies but this is backwards ass Toei.
