Freeza's relationship with Vegeta?
Freeza's relationship with Vegeta?
During the Namek saga, in which a fully healed Vegeta arrives on Namek to openly defy Freeza, he systematically kills nearly his entire army singlehandedly. Kiwi, Zarbon, Dodoria, four members of the Ginyu force, numerous lesser unnamed henchmen. Vegeta even manages to steal the dragonballs and bust up Freeza's ship.
However, as the inevitable confrontation with Freeza emerges, Vegeta does something very odd. He grows more and more fearful and hesitant to fight Freeza, even trying to flee at various points.
When the fighting starts and before Freeza transforms for the first time, he gives a lengthy speech stating how disappointed he is in Vegeta for betraying him, and how utterly futile his efforts are.
Upon his final transformation, Freeza carefully dismantles Vegeta, he tortures him to the brink of death before eventually killing him.
Does this indicate, perhaps, a special relationship that the two shared?

I also was interested in Freeza's disappointment concerning Vegeta's betrayal. While I can't say for sure if the same lines where said in the original version but that is what Freeza was saying to the Saiyan prince.... "If only you continued to obey me". I get the feeling that Freeza did not feel any genuine empathy for Vegeta, I mean he was a mere "monkey" after all. Besides it should have been obvious Vegeta was ambitious and power hungry enough to want to destroy Freeza when he had the chance. I think the tyrant only saw Vegeta as a valueable pawn. Perhaps he did "like him" a bit compared to his other underlings like Cui. Yet as we painfully see, Freeza doesen't hesitate to beat on the prince mercilessly.

It's from the IQ "Supple" game show.Coola Yagami wrote:snaku, what's that animated Freeza transformation clip in your profile-pic from?
Back-on-topic: I don't think Vegeta's fear of Freeza necessarily had anything to do with any 'special relationship' between them - Vegeta should be scared, Freeza is unbelievably powerful.
Vegeta is between a couple hundred-thousand, and a couple million - while Freeza is between fifteen million, and one hundred-and-fifty million.
He should be scared.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

Haha, relationship. [/immaturity] Anyway, I believe Freeza's attitude towards Vegeta is based on Freeza's twisted sense of humor. I mean he kills Vegeta's father, the people of his planet, and actually destroys the planet itself. Allowing Vegeta to leave is a constant reminder of Freeza's superiority as if he was god.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

I just saw that animation for the first time - that's a pretty sweet clip to be made for some goofy game show (or is this a big show in Japan?).desirecampbell wrote:It's from the IQ "Supple" game show.
Anyways, I think Freeza's disappointment about Vegeta's betrayal may have something to do with all of his powerful allies now being dead (not that he needs them for their power, maybe confident is a better word). I imagine it's not very entertaining dealing with the average henchman (who is petrified to be in your presence) all day long, which is why Freeza kept people like Zarbon/Dodoria at his side.
I don't think he cares about Vegeta at all (he shows he'd kill him without a second thought), he just wants to have somebody interesting around.
